As more watch brands fine-tune their sport models in search of the perfect diameter, Formex becomes the latest to join the movement with its new 41-mm Essence Space Ghost. Positioned between the existing 39-mm and 43-mm versions, the new stainless steel 316L case offers a carefully balanced presence on the wrist while maintaining full compatibility with the collection’s broad range of straps and bracelets – from leather and rubber to NATO and stainless steel. Thanks to a quick-release system, all strap changes can be carried out in seconds without tools.

The debut model in this size, the Essence Space Ghost, features a dial crafted from Muonionalusta meteorite, a material over 4.5 billion years old. Stabilized through a special surface treatment and coated with rhodium for a lasting silvery sheen, each dial showcases the natural Widmanstätten pattern, ensuring no two are alike. Blued hands and indices provide a striking contrast. Instead of mounting the indices on a separate plate, Formex drills microscopic holes directly into the brittle meteorite – a technically challenging approach that secures the markers while preserving the dial’s authenticity.

At the heart of the sports watch beats the automatic Sellita SW200-1 caliber with finely decorated surfaces and a skeletonized rotor. The tried-and-tested Swiss movement is paced at 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 41 hours. COSC chronometer certification guarantees high precision and reliable timekeeping.

Another innovation is a newly patented micro-adjustable folding clasp, developed in collaboration with sister company Dexel for the stainless steel bracelet. The clasp offers three adjustment steps – 0, 3, and 6 millimeters – and can be operated without removing the watch from the wrist. The mechanism is designed so that extending requires slightly more force than shortening, ensuring secure fit and intuitive handling.

The Space Ghost 41 mm also introduces a screw-down crown engineered to work seamlessly with Formex’s patented Case Suspension System. This unique construction integrates four small springs between the upper and lower case, allowing the entire case to move slightly and absorb shocks, thereby enhancing comfort and durability. Developing a screw-down crown compatible with this flexible architecture was a technical challenge, as the crown normally requires a fixed connection. Formex’s solution maintains the benefits of the suspension system while improving water resistance and impact protection.
