Heritage Meets Cutting-Edge

With the new Luminor Marina PAM01707, Panerai brings together two defining sides of its identity. On one hand, there is the unmistakable Luminor design, with its cushion-shaped case, prominent crown-protecting bridge and highly legible sandwich dial—features deeply rooted in the brand’s history as a supplier of precision instruments to the Italian Navy. On the other, Panerai turns to an advanced composite material that reduces weight, resists corrosion and gives every watch its own distinctive surface pattern. Naturally, the Luminor Marina PAM01707 is water-resistant to 300 meters, or 30 bar, and equipped with a manufacture movement with a power reserve of three days.

An Individual Character

At 44mm, the Luminor Marina PAM01707 retains the commanding proportions that have defined the collection for decades. Its case and bezel are crafted from Panerai's Carbotech, a composite material made by compressing layers of carbon fiber together with PEEK, a high-performance polymer that reinforces the material and contributes to its durability. The result is a lightweight yet highly resistant case with a distinctive matte-black surface. Because the layered material is cut differently for every case, the pattern varies from watch to watch, giving each PAM01707 an individual appearance.

According to Panerai, Carbotech is 64 percent lighter than titanium and 80 percent lighter than steel while offering high resistance to corrosion— an advantage for a watch designed with underwater use in mind. Despite its 44mm diameter and 14.5 mm height, the watch weighs approximately 100 grams

A Familiar Design with a Softer Edge

The matte black sandwich dial introduces a warmer and more restrained side to the Luminor’s traditionally instrumental design. Its large Arabic numerals and hour markers are filled with beige Super-LumiNova, which emits a green glow in the dark. The color combination recalls earlier Panerai tool watches while creating a softer contrast against the black dial and Carbotech case.

The small seconds display at 9 o’clock is another reference to Panerai’s historic military watches. Originally, the running seconds hand allowed naval commandos to verify immediately that their watch was operating, even under difficult conditions. On the PAM01707, the date display has been omitted, resulting in a particularly clean and balanced dial layout that places the focus on the essential time indications.

Three Days of Power

Behind the closed titanium case back, the automatic P.9010 caliber ensures high precision. Equipped with two barrels connected in series, the manufacture movement provides a power reserve of three days. It also features a stop-seconds mechanism for precise time setting. When the crown is pulled out, the seconds hand stops, allowing the watch to be synchronized accurately. This function reflects Panerai’s military heritage, where exact time coordination was essential during naval operations.

A quick-adjustment mechanism also allows the hour hand to be moved forward or backward in one-hour increments without affecting the minute hand or stopping the movement. This makes the PAM01707 particularly practical when traveling across time zones. A balance bridge secured on both sides contributes to the stability of the regulating organ, while four gold screws on the balance wheel allow its inertia to be precisely adjusted.

Vintage Leather and Sporty Rubber

Panerai supplies the watch with a warm brown calf leather strap and a black rubber strap. The interchangeable options allow the Luminor Marina to shift from a refined everyday watch with a strong heritage character to a more functional companion for water sports and active use. Pricing is marked at $15,600
