Alpina Expands the Alpiner Extreme Collection with Two California Dial Variants

Alpina expands its Alpiner Extreme Automatic collection with new brown and green sunburst dials featuring a vintage-inspired California layout. Rugged, precise, and water-resistant to 200 meters, these new editions embody the brand’s spirit of adventure on the mountain or in the city.

With the Alpiner Extreme Automatic, Alpina brought its vision of a mechanical sports watch built for ambitious outdoor adventures to life. Water-resistant to 200 meters, the watch combines excellent legibility, functional design, and a reliable automatic movement — all key traits of a modern tool watch. Robust, precise, and versatile, it’s equally at home on the mountain peak, underwater, or in everyday urban life

Now, the Swiss brand enriches the popular collection with two new dial variants in warm sunburst brown and deep pine green, both featuring a refined dégradé effect that transitions from light to dark. Unlike previous models that featured Alpina’s signature triangular “mountain peak” motif, these new editions debut a California dial, a distinctive layout combining Roman numerals on the upper half, Arabic numerals below, and markers or a triangle at the cardinal points. Originally created for improved readability, this historical design later earned its “California” moniker when many examples surfaced in the Golden State.

The date display remains at 3 o’clock, and the brand’s hallmark red triangle adorns the seconds hand as a counterweight. The cushion-shaped stainless-steel case measures a compact 39 by 40.5 millimeters, a unisex size introduced last year that balances sporty character with elegant proportions. Alternating brushed and polished surfaces enhance the dynamic architecture, complemented by a round bezel secured with six visible screws.

Visible through the exhibition case back is Alpina’s automatic caliber AL-525, which beats at 4 Hz and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. Each model is paired with a black rubber strap and retails for $1,895.
