Oris Flies the Straits with ProPilot Desert Edition

The ProPilot Desert Edition brings the refreshed ProPilot Date into warmer territory, pairing innovative carbon fiber construction with dial tones inspired by today’s trend toward natural, earthy shades.

At Dubai Watch Week last month, Oris introduced the ProPilot Desert Edition, a special version of the newly updated ProPilot Date — one of the brand’s most recognizable modern aviation watches. The redesign refines the model’s form, giving it a more assertive silhouette with clean, sharply defined lines. Subtle updates to the dial ring, applied numerals, and slimmer hands enhance legibility and lend the watch a decidedly contemporary look.

The 41mm case combines carbon fiber with stainless steel elements finished in grey PVD. The lightweight carbon middle and lugs are produced using an advanced additive manufacturing technique developed by Oris engineers, offering a robust yet comfortable structure. This sits on a black hybrid strap of rubber and textile, paired with a redesigned “LIFT” clasp, now featuring stepless adjustment for an improved fit.

The star of the design is the grained sand-beige dial, inspired by the tones and textures of the desert landscape. In tune with the current shift toward natural, earthy color palettes across watch design, the Desert Edition balances warmth with technical precision. Black hands and numerals coated with  Super-LumiNova ensure high contrast and readability. The date indication at 6 o'clock is done with white numerals on a black background.

Inside beats the automatic Oris Caliber 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1, offering a 41-hour power reserve and equipped with the brand's signature red rotor.  The watch is water-resistant to 10 bar and features a sapphire crystal with double-sided anti-reflective coating. Pricing is marked at CHF2,850 or approximately $3,600 when converted to USD.
