Since its debut in 2021, the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar has stood as a milestone in modern watchmaking. Not only did it establish a world record for thinness in its category, but it also earned the prestigious Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Now Bulgari revisits the award-winning concept with a new monochromatic blue interpretation that combines the unique technical sophistication and understated elegance that has become a hallmark of the Octo Finissimo collection with a new color way.

A New Shade for an Ultra-Thin Calendar Watch

The latest Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar retains the ultra-thin architecture that made its predecessor famous while introducing a distinctive blue aesthetic for the first time. Following previous interpretations in Carbon Gold and rose gold, Bulgari now turns to blue PVD-coated titanium, creating a contemporary monochromatic look that extends from the case to the dial and matching alligator leather strap. The result is a watch that underscores the collection’s ability to combine technical complexity with the effortless elegance the Roman watchmaker is famous for.

Ultra-Thin Engineering

The Octo Finissimo collection has become synonymous with record-breaking slimness. Over the years, Bulgari has established ten world records within the line, demonstrating its mastery of ultra-thin watchmaking while maintaining a distinctive Italian design identity. For this latest edition, the 40mm Octo Finissimo case is crafted from sandblasted titanium treated with a blue PVD coating and measures just 5.8mm in thickness. Gray rhodium-plated hands and applied indexes create a subtle contrast against the blue lacquered dial, ensuring excellent legibility despite the amount of calendar information displayed. A polished stainless-steel crown with a black ceramic insert provides smooth adjustment of the perpetual calendar functions, while a transparent case back offers a view of the movement within.

The Record-Setting Caliber BVL 305

Powering the watch is Bulgari’s manufacture Caliber BVL 305, an automatic mechanical movement measuring only 2.75mm thick. Despite its slender dimensions, the caliber incorporates a full perpetual calendar with retrograde date, day, month, and leap-year indications. Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and equipped with a micro rotor, the beautifully finished movement delivers a power reserve of approximately 60 hours. The watch comes with a blue alligator leather strap and is priced at $74,000.
