A collaboration brings together Urwerk’s wandering satellite hours and Ulysse Nardin’s iconic Freak concept in a single, integrated manufacture caliber.

In an unprecedented alliance between two of Switzerland’s most forward-thinking independent watchmakers, Ulysse Nardin and Urwerk have joined forces to create the UR-Freak in a limited edition of 100 pieces. The partnership fuses Ulysse Nardin’s revolutionary Freak platform, known for its rotating movement-as-hands concept, with Urwerk’s signature satellite hour display. The result is a technically complex, visually arresting timepiece that celebrates the essence of independence, creativity, and mechanical mastery.

The Ur-Freak combines the rotating carousel architecture of the Freak with Urwerk’s three-armed satellite hour indication, in which each arm carries a rotating hour disc that travels along a minute track. Every three hours, the satellite carousel completes a full rotation — a mesmerizing ballet of mechanical motion. At its heart lies the newly developed automatic caliber UN-241 with a 90-hour power reserve, which merges the DNA of both brands. It features a Grinder winding system, DIAMonSil escapement technology, and a silicon balance wheel operating at 3 Hz.

Housed in a 44mm sandblasted titanium case measuring 12mm thick, the UR-Freak maintains the crownless architecture of the Freak series, with time set via a rotating bezel. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters and features integrated rubber straps — one in Urwerk’s electric yellow and one in black, both secured by a titanium folding clasp.

Each Ur-Freak is priced at 108,100 CHF (incl. 8.1% VAT) or approximately $135,200 when converted to USD.
