Last year, Britain's Bremont Watch Co. sponsored Nirmal "Nims" Purja, a Gurkha mountaineer and British military veteran, in his historic quest to summit the world's 14 tallest mountains in less than seven months. Commemorating the successful completion of this record-setting mission, dubbed Project Possible, is the new Bremont Project Possible Limited Edition — which also happens to be Bremont's first-ever timepiece with bronze in its case.

The watch is based on one of Bremont's sturdiest dive watch models, the Supermarine 500, whose 43-mm case boasts a 500-meter water resistance despite being outfitted with a sapphire exhibition caseback. In the Project Possible edition, limited to 300 pieces, this case is made of titanium, with a black-DLC-coated middle and a unidirectional dive-scale bezel constructed of bronze — a material used historically in military and naval hardware like compasses and armaments due to its corrosion resistance. The case is outfitted with a helium release valve and a crown protector. The bezel's insert is made of dark blue ceramic to match the dial.

Under a domed, nonreflective, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the watch's deep blue dial hosts luminous, gold-plated hands, an additional arrow-tipped GMT hand to indicate the time in a second time zone, and a date window at 3 o'clock. Behind that dial, anchored by a special anti-shock mount, is the self-winding, COSC-chronometer-certified movement, Bremont Caliber BE-93-2AV, based on the ETA 2892-A2 and holding a 42-hour power reserve. Its main attraction, as seen through the aforementioned sapphire caseback window, is the skeletonized rotor, which has engraved on its surface the heights of all 14 peaks that Nims Purjal summitted in his world tour — from Annapurna, on April 23, to Shishapangma, on October 29, in the process breaking six world records. The Project Possible logo also appears on the dial.

“We couldn’t be prouder of Nims in completing Bremont Project Possible," says Bremont co-founder Nick English. "His focus, determination and unwavering self-belief has been utterly inspiring and having him test our watches in these extreme environments speaks to the core of what Bremont has always been about. It only felt appropriate to create a commemorative timepiece for him and for everyone who so closely followed his journey, one that he made look somewhat effortless!” The Bremont Project Possible Limited Edition will retail for $6,995.
