With the Altitude Chronograph Pulsograph Valjoux 23, Bremont continues to expand its flagship aviation-inspired line, introducing a hand-wound chronograph that bridges vintage horology and modern design. Limited to just 40 pieces, the new model is powered by a rare New Old Stock Valjoux 23 caliber, one of the most revered chronograph movements of the 20th century. This column-wheel chronograph movement was first introduced in 1916 and produced for nearly six decades. Sourced as New Old Stock ébauches and reworked in collaboration with Chronode, each movement has been carefully restored, assembled, and finished to Bremont’s specifications. The result is a caliber that retains its historic architecture characterized by a distinctive Y-shaped bridge, long levers, and a large balance wheel, while receiving a contemporary interpretation of haute horlogerie finishing, including finely grained surfaces, polished bevels, and mirror-finished details.

The aesthetic underscores this bridge between past and present. Its salmon-pink dial recalls the palette of 1930s and 1940s chronographs, enhanced by a mix of vertical brushing and grained textures that shift subtly in changing light. Polished black-gold numerals with Superluminova inlays contrast against the warm background, while silver sub dials at 3 and 9 o’clock introduce a restrained two-tone “panda” style. A pulsometer scale around the dial’s periphery references early medical chronographs used to measure heart rates. Many of those were historically powered by the same Valjoux 23 movement.

Encasing the movement is a 42mm Trip-Tick case crafted from lightweight, high-strength titanium and water-resistant to 100 meters. Measuring just 12.52mm in thickness, it benefits from the slim profile of the Valjoux 23, offering a balanced presence on the wrist despite its robust construction. A sapphire exhibition case back reveals the movement in full, highlighting both its historical significance and its refined finishing. The Altitude Pulsograph is paired with a brown nubuck leather strap featuring ecru box stitching, reinforcing its warm, vintage-inspired character. Pricing was not available at time of publication.
