Navigating Through Time and Space: Meet the Bell & Ross BR 03 GMT Compass
Bell & Ross reinforces its position as a specialist in professional instrument watches with the launch of the BR 03 GMT Compass, a 500-piece limited edition that merges the functionality of a dual-time-zone watch with a compass. Inspired by this essential navigation tool that has been crucial for human exploration for centuries, this new wristwatch is a cool companion for modern travelers both geographically and in terms of time.
Like the brand’s earliest instrument-inspired watches, the BR 03 GMT Compass channels the aesthetic and functional DNA of cockpit displays. Its black dial features a compass-style layout with cardinal points engraved on the flange at 6, 12, 18, and 24 hours. The diamond-shaped red GMT hand recalls the needle of a traditional magnetic compass, while the two-tone 24-hour rotating bezel— blue for day, black for night— offers an intuitive way to track a second time zone. More than a visual reference, the compass motif also provides a practical navigational aid. When used in daylight, the wearer can align the GMT hand toward the sun to determine cardinal directions, much like an analog orienteering method.
The BR 03 GMT Compass is housed in a 42mm satin-finished and polished steel case, maintaining the emblematic “circle within a square” design that defines Bell & Ross. It is fitted with an anti-reflective sapphire crystal and water-resistant to 100 meters. The bi-directional bezel, crafted in anodized aluminum, emphasizes legibility and functional clarity— two of the brand’s enduring design principles. Inside, the BR-CAL.303 movement powers hours, minutes, central seconds, date, and an independently adjustable 24-hour GMT hand. The automatic caliber boasts a 54-hour power reserve.
The BR 03 GMT Compass comes both on a black rubber strap and a textile one. Pricing is marked at $5,000.
