Glashütte Original Senator Chronograph and Navigator Debut for 2026
Two takes on Glashütte chronograph history
Glashütte Original today expands its Senator collection with the new Senator Chronograph and Senator Chronograph Navigator, two 41mm flyback chronographs built around the same case and movement, with distinct, historically-inspired dials.
Founded in the Saxon watchmaking town of Glashütte, the manufacture has long built its identity around traditional German watchmaking, with the Senator collection serving as one of its clearest expressions of that approach. The line has encompassed everything from simple three-hand watches to more elaborate calendar and chronograph complications, typically framed through restrained, classically minded design.
The Senator line is no stranger to the chronograph. Previous models have included the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date, though this latest pair takes the complication in a slimmer and more historically driven direction. That approach also connects back to a much longer chronograph tradition in Glashütte, including the UROFA Calibre 59 developed in the early 1940s, which the brand describes as the first modern Glashütte wristwatch chronograph.
The new models draw from two sides of that history. The Senator Chronograph Navigator looks to mid-century pilot's watches, while the standard Senator Chronograph takes its cues from the precision observation watches once used for maritime navigation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Despite their different personalities, both watches use the same 41mm stainless-steel case, measuring 12.9mm thick and 48.5mm from lug to lug. Sapphire crystals sit front and back, while water resistance is rated to 5 bar, or 50m.
Mushroom-style chronograph pushers sit at 2 and 4 o'clock, with a tachymeter scale running around the dial’s rehaut. The Navigator adds a larger pilot-style crown, a small functional detail that helps reinforce its more utilitarian character.
The Senator Chronograph Navigator is the sportier of the two, with Its matte black dial drawing directly from Glashütte pilot's watches of the 1940s. The look pairs luminous Arabic numerals with Super-LumiNova-coated hour and minute hands. The central chronograph seconds hand, 30-minute counter hand, and small seconds hand are finished in white lacquer, keeping the display highly legible against the dark dial.
The standard Senator Chronograph takes a more formal approach, drawing inspiration from observation watches produced in Glashütte during the late 19th and early 20th centuries — namely precision pocket watches of the time used for maritime navigation. That influence comes through in a silver-white grainé dial with blue-coated solid-gold Roman numerals and blued hands. The 30-minute counter and small seconds sit opposite one another, while Glashütte Original's Panorama Date anchors the layout at 6 o'clock within a white-gold frame.

Inside both watches is the automatic Calibre 37-24, an integrated column-wheel flyback chronograph movement combining central chronograph seconds, a 30-minute counter, small seconds, and the Panorama Date.
The flyback function allows the chronograph to be stopped, reset, and restarted in a single operation, while the movement runs at 4 Hz and delivers a 70-hour power reserve. A silicon balance spring adds resistance to magnetic fields and temperature changes, with gold regulating screws and Glashütte Original's swan-neck fine adjustment handling regulation.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the Calibre 37-24 is finished with beveled edges, polished steel components, blued screws, and a three-quarter plate with Glashütte stripes. A newly developed skeletonized rotor incorporates a 21-carat gold oscillating weight.
Both the Senator Chronograph and Senator Chronograph Navigator are offered on Louisiana alligator leather, a sand-colored synthetic strap, or a stainless-steel bracelet. The straps use a tool-free quick-change system, and the folding clasp can also be transferred between straps using a new quick-change mechanism.
The watches are available worldwide through Glashütte Original boutiques and authorized retailers. U.S. pricing is marked at $16,100 on leather or textile straps and $17,100 on the stainless-steel bracelet.
