Circula Unveils the ProSea: A Modern Dive Watch Inspired by the Manta Ray

The independent German brand expands its tool watch collection with a scratch-resistant diver that draws on its successful ProTrail field watch.

Circula, the independent watch manufacturer from Pforzheim celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, launches an entirely new dive watch. Aptly named the ProSea, the newcomer draws inspiration from the brand’s successful ProTrail model, a high-quality mechanical tool watch, and was designed by the renowned designer Guy Bove who has worked with prestigious brands like TAG Heuer, Breitling, and IWC. He decided to give the ProSea a very distinctive face with a textured surface taking inspiration from the skin of the manta ray. This marine motif continues on the case back, which bears an engraving of the creature that inspired the design.

The ProSea’s emphasis on readability and durability is evident in every detail. The minute track, set on a two-tone rehaut— half matte, half brushed— enhances legibility while adding a dynamic play of light. A scratch-resistant, 120-click unidirectional ceramic bezel in a brushed finish complements the case’s tactical aesthetic. The 40 mm case, crafted from hardened, sandblasted 316L stainless steel with a hardness of 1,200 Vickers, ensures superior protection against everyday wear. Distinctive sand-textured recesses on the case sides highlight its tool-watch DNA. With a water-resistance to 200 meters and a screw-down crown, the ProSea is ready for serious diving endavors.

Under its slightly domed sapphire crystal with triple internal anti-reflective coating, the watch offers exceptional visibility. The dial and bezel are treated with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9, while the minute hand uses contrasting C3 lume for optimal orientation in low-light conditions. Inside, the Swiss-made Sellita SW200-1a Elaboré automatic movement ensures reliable timekeeping, offering a 41-hour power reserve and fine adjustment performed at Circula’s workshop in Pforzheim.

The ProSea is available in three contemporary colorways— blue, petrol, and anthracite— and comes on a durable hybrid rubber strap. A scratch-resistant steel bracelet with folding clasp and quick-adjust system is available as an option.

Available as of today, the Circula ProSea retails for $1,090 with rubber strap, or $1,290 with both straps being included.
