TAG Heuer Unveils the Monaco Chronograph 2026 in Titanium with New TH20-11 Movement
Watches & Wonders 2026
At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, TAG Heuer unveils the latest evolution of its iconic Monaco Chronograph, a model that has long stood out as one of the most distinctive designs in modern watchmaking. First launched in 1969, it was revolutionary in many respects. For one, its square case was water-resistant, a technical feat at that time. More importantly, its motor, the Calibre 11, was one of the very first self-winding chronograph movements. Its left-hand crown, a necessity of the caliber’s design, became an instantly recognizable signature, while its bold angular case and vivid blue dial marked a radical departure from conventional wristwatches. While initially produced for only five years, it made history on the wrist of Steve McQueen, who wore it on—and, as legend has it, off—the set of the legendary movie Le Mans in 1971, which captured the spirit and hardship of the 24-hour race. TAG Heuer brought it back in 1997, and since then it has been released in many variants, each paying tribute to the iconic design while introducing modern updates in materials, movement, color, and dial layout.

TAG HeuerThe latest generation is once again a testament to the enduring allure of the original and a showcase of how subtle changes can make a significant impact in the world of watches, where proportions are tightly constrained. The sapphire crystal covering the dial is now a true square, while the 39 mm case—crafted in lightweight grade 5 titanium—flows with more pronounced curved sides. The case back also shows eworked ergonomics: a smaller, rounded central section slopes toward the edges and enhances the comfort.

TAG HeuerThe dial receives equal attention, blending historical cues with modern refinement. Each model features a bi-compax layout with chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock and running seconds at 9 o’clock, paired with an angled date window at 6 o’clock where in previous editions the subsidiary seconds used to be. The sub dials are slightly recessed and perfectly echo the case shape. The applied markers and hands are finely faceted, with Superluminova coating for night-time legibility.

TAG HeuerThe collection is offered in three distinctive colourways. The classic Monaco blue recalls the watch worn by Steve McQueen in his 1971 film Le Mans, while the deep green evokes British racing heritage. A third black variant, paired with rose-gold accents and debuting in a two-tone execution, offers a more formal aesthetic. Each model is fitted with a racing-inspired calfskin strap and a newly designed grade 5 titanium folding clasp.

TAG HeuerUnder the hood, the new in-house Calibre TH20-11 powers the Monaco. An evolution of the TH20-00, which was introduced at Watches and Wonders 2023, the column-wheel movement offers an 80-hour power reserve and a five-year warranty. The most visible reference to its famous predecessor, the Caliber 11 from 1969, is the crown positioned on the left side of the case. Pricing is set at $9,350 for the titanium iterations, while the two-tone execution in titanium and rose gold is priced at $13,050.
