Frederique Constant x Bamford: The Highlife Chronograph as a Bold Statement

Frederique Constant and the Bamford Watch Department unveil a limited edition Highlife Chronograph Automatic, combining Swiss watchmaking precision with British experimental design. Its striking crystallized titanium case, turquoise accents, and three interchangeable straps make it a truly distinctive timepiece.

The Highlife Chronograph Automatic Bamford Special marks a daring departure from tradition. By pairing Swiss craftsmanship with Bamford’s bold, avant-garde approach, the watch emerges darker, sharper, and more provocative than any previous Highlife model. Frederique Constant CEO Niels Eggerding explains: “George and his team are known for their fearless approach. We wanted to step out of our comfort zone, and Bamford was the perfect partner to make a statement.” The result is a Highlife that stands out with a commanding presence and modern edge.

One of the edition’s most striking features is its newly developed 41-mm crystallized titanium case. Heated to an extreme 1,200 °C and slowly cooled under controlled conditions, the process creates a mineral-like crystalline structure – ensuring that each case is unique. Combined with a deep black DLC coating, the finish is simultaneously technical, raw, and futuristic. The stealthy, monochromatic aesthetic is punctuated by turquoise chronograph counters and tachymeter scale on the luminescent black dial.

Despite its radical exterior, the watch retains its classic Swiss made soul. At its core beats the FC-391 automatic chronograph movement with a 60-hour power reserve, based on a La Joux-Perret caliber. The movement, decorated with Geneva stripes, is visible through a smoked, blackened sapphire caseback – perfectly complementing the watch’s bold exterior.

Frederique Constant provides three interchangeable straps for everyday adaptability:

• Black rubber

• Turquoise rubber

• Black nubuck calf leather

All straps can be swapped quickly and easily thanks to the Highlife quick-change system, emphasizing the collection’s long-standing focus on versatility and modern lifestyle. Pricing is marked at CHF4,495 or approximately $5,600 when converted to USD.
