Introducing the Bulova Shelby Racer Chronograph

Bulova celebrates the legendary Shelby Daytona Coupé with a chronograph full of character featuring a mirror-polished dial, automotive-inspired details and a high-frequency Precisionist quartz movement.

Following the Bulova x Shelby Chronograph with its distinctive bullhead design introduced last year, the new Shelby Racer Chronograph takes a different route. Inspired by the 50th Anniversary Aluminum Edition Shelby Daytona Coupé, the limited edition translates the race car’s mirror-polished bodywork, dashboard instruments and iconic racing stripes into an automotive-themed chronograph powered by Bulova’s high-frequency Precisionist quartz technology.

Bulova and Carroll Shelby Licensing continue their partnership with a chronograph that takes its visual cues from one of the most significant American race cars of the 1960s. The Shelby Daytona Coupé made motorsport history with its aerodynamic bodywork and powerful performance. In 1965, Shelby became the first — and so far only — American manufacturer to win the FIA World Sportscar Championship.

Automotive Inspiration in Polished Steel

Measuring 40.5mm in diameter and water-resistant to 100 meters, the high-polished steel barrel-style case frames a mirror-polished dial with a striking monochrome aesthetic, evoking the reflective surface of the commemorative vehicle. Mushroom-style chronograph pushers and the four legible screws on the bezel add to the retro charisma of the watch. Bold applied Arabic numerals with luminescent treatment lend the display a vintage-inspired character and ensure strong legibility. The three-counter layout draws on the functional dashboard gauges of the vehicle, while the Shelby logo is integrated at 6 o’clock, completing the watch’s distinctly automotive design. A tachymeter scale on the flange underscores the chronograph’s performance-oriented character.

High-frequency quartz precision

Inside the Shelby Racer Chronograph is Bulova’s proprietary high-precision quartz movement NP20, which operates at a frequency of 262 kHz. The high-frequency technology is designed to provide increased accuracy and enables the chronograph seconds hand to move with a smooth, sweeping motion. This state-of-the art caliber ticks behind a closed case back with a commemorative insert featuring the Bulova and Daytona logos.

A Racing Bracelet and a Matching Strap

The stainless steel bracelet continues the automotive theme. Its contrasting finishes reference the Daytona Coupe’s signature double racing stripes, while an interchangeable brown padded leather strap offers a more classic look inspired by traditional automotive interiors. The watch is delivered in a special Shelby presentation box and is available now through authorized retailers and Bulova’s official website for $1,425.
