Few watches tell the story of a brand as clearly as the Big Crown Pointer Date tells the story of Oris. First introduced in 1938 for pilots, the model has become an example for practical elegance, mechanical integrity, and independent thinking. Now, the Hölstein based brand brings back one of its most beloved dial variations, the so-called “Bullseye,” not as a limited edition, but as a permanent addition to the collection. It draws on a rich visual heritage that predates the wristwatch itself. Oris experimented with concentric, two-tone “Bullseye” dials as early as the 1910s on pocket watches, revisiting the look repeatedly through the mid-20th century and most recently in 1998. After nearly three decades of absence, the design returns, now interpreted within the familiar proportions of the 38mm Big Crown Pointer Date.

The multi-piece stainless steel case features a fluted bezel, an oversized screw-in crown, and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the inside. The elegant "tuxedo" dial in gray and black with a minute rail-road track is accented by a vivid red date scale on the periphery and a central pointer date hand with a red tip. Large Arabic numerals and cathedral-style hands filled with Super-LumiNova ensure excellent legibility in all conditions, staying true to the model’s aviation roots.

Powering the watch is the Oris Caliber 754, an automatic movement based on Sellita with a 41-hour power reserve. In addition to central hours, minutes, and seconds, it offers an instantaneous pointer date display, a date corrector, fine timing adjustment, and stop-seconds for precise setting. The movement and the signature red Oris rotor can be admired through the transparent case back.

Beyond its technical and aesthetic appeal, the Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” also reflects Oris’s long-standing commitment to independence and sustainability. The watch is delivered on a black Cervo Volante deer leather strap, produced using ethically sourced materials and fitted with a quick-change system for everyday versatility.

“The Big Crown Pointer Date embodies Oris’s independent spirit. This iteration taps into the zeitgeist and shows again why the Big Crown is a design for the ages.”

Ulrich W. Herzog, Chairman
