Louis Erard Launches Le Régulateur Esprit Flinqué
A study in light and texture
Louis Erard has, in recent years, established itself as a specialist in regulator dials— timepieces in which hours, minutes, and seconds are displayed separately. Originally derived from precision pendulum clocks, this layout follows a clear visual hierarchy: the minute takes center stage, while hours and seconds are indicated on sub dials. With the new Le Régulateur Esprit Flinqué, the independent Swiss brand once again explores this concept through a contemporary lens. The result is an expressive limited edition that interprets traditional decorative crafts in a distinctly modern way. Structure, depth, and an orchestrated play of light define the dial, which unfolds across multiple layers and finishes. The model is available in two versions, each limited to 99 pieces.

Louis ErardAt the heart of the watch is the newly developed dial featuring the so-called Esprit Flinqué technique. This multi-layered construction combines guilloché, sunray brushing, and lacquered surfaces to create a dynamic interplay of light and depth. In keeping with the regulator layout, the dial emphasizes visual clarity. The eye is immediately drawn to the central minute display, rendered in either vivid blue or a more subdued gray. Fine, radially arranged lines structure the surface and guide light across the dial, creating constantly shifting reflections as the watch moves on the wrist. For the first time, Louis Erard introduces skeletonized rotating discs for the hours and seconds. Their openworked construction enhances the sense of lightness and adds a subtle, almost architectural dimension to the display. A signature detail remains the fir tree–shaped tip of the minute hand, a tribute to the forests of the Swiss Jura, where the brand is rooted.

Louis ErardThe blue version offers a vibrant and highly contrasted appearance. Layers of blue tones, from deep to lighter shades, structure the dial, while a beige calfskin strap introduces a warm, tactile counterpoint. In contrast, the gray model embraces a restrained, monochromatic aesthetic. Here, the tone extends from dial to strap, creating a calm and cohesive visual presence that feels both modern and architectural. Both versions are housed in a polished stainless-steel case measuring 39mm in diameter with a height of 12.82mm. At their heart is the automatic regulator caliber Sellita SW266-1. Operating at a frequency of 4 Hz, it delivers a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The movement is visible through the sapphire case back, where the rotor features the brand’s signature motif. Pricing is marked at CHF 3,900 (without taxes) or approximately $4,980 when converted to USD.
