Few watch brands have cultivated such a longstanding relationship with Hollywood as Hamilton. While the American-born brand built its reputation on railroad watches and later introduced the world's first electric watch in 1957, it has also become one of cinema's most recognizable watchmakers. Hamilton timepieces have appeared in more than 500 films and television productions, and following collaborations for Interstellar, Tenet, and Oppenheimer, the brand once again teams up with acclaimed director Christopher Nolan. This time, however, the result is not a prop created for the screen, but a limited-edition watch inspired by Nolan's latest film, The Odyssey, which arrives in theaters today.

Ancient Inspiration, Modern Watchmaking

Translating Homer's ancient epic into a contemporary wristwatch presented an unusual challenge. Rather than pursuing historical authenticity, Hamilton and Nolan focused on capturing the atmosphere and symbolism of the story through carefully considered design details. The 42mm Khaki Field Auto The Odyssey Limited Edition is housed in a bronze case, a material chosen to evoke the weapons and armor of antiquity. Beyond its historical association, bronze develops a unique patina over time, ensuring that every watch acquires an individual appearance as it ages. A feat that is highly appreciated by many enthusiasts.

A Khaki Field With Cinematic Details

The limited edition is based on Hamilton's 42 mm Khaki Field Automatic. Water-resistant to 100 meters, the bronze case features a circular brushed finish and is paired with a brown leather strap accented by a pronounced center stitch. The dial is deliberately restrained, allowing the film's visual references to take center stage. Its vertically brushed black surface is overlaid with a bronze-colored texture inspired by Odysseus' helmet. Instead of conventional numerals and hour markers, only a single marker at 12 o'clock recalls a rivet from the hero's sword sheath. Bronze-colored sword-shaped hands reinforce the martial theme, while Superluminova Grade X1 ensures excellent legibility in low-light conditions.

H-10 Movement With 80-Hour Power Reserve

Inside the watch beats Hamilton's H-10 automatic movement, equipped with an antimagnetic Nivachron balance spring and offering an impressive 80-hour power reserve. The caseback continues the storytelling with Christopher Nolan's signature, an engraving of Odysseus' helmet, and the individual limited-edition number.

Price and Availability

Hamilton offers the watch in a specially designed presentation box that also includes a replica of Athena's pin from the film. In The Odyssey, the talisman is given to Odysseus by Penelope and accompanies him throughout his journey. The edition is limited to 2,112 pieces, a number rich in symbolic meaning. It references the recurring importance of the number twelve in Homer's Odyssey, including the poem's 12,000 verses, Odysseus' fleet of twelve ships, and the famous contest in which he proves his identity by shooting an arrow through twelve axe heads. Pricing is marked at $1,495.
