The Citizen Series 8

Right in time for warmer temperatures, Citizen kicks off the spring season with a pair of mechanical watch updates that blend contemporary design, smart engineering and practical functionality. The newest Series 8 models continue the brand’s focus on refined mechanical watches with modern, sporty character. Each features a case under 40mm in diameter— 39.3mm across and 10.4mm thick— crafted from five finely polished components to achieve a sharp, architectural profile.

At the heart of these watches is the slim automatic Caliber 9051, delivering approximately 42 hours of power reserve, a stop-seconds function, a magnetic resistance and an average accuracy of –10 to +20 seconds per day. The transparent case back offers a clear view of the movement and some of its finely finished details, such as the winding mass with Geneva Stripes.

The dials showcase a distinctly contemporary Japanese aesthetic, featuring a creative interpretation of Tokyo’s nighttime skyline overlaid with a traditional check pattern— a motif historically associated with prosperity and good fortune. This intricate combination gives each watch a sense of depth and character, making the dial instantly recognizable as part of the Series 8 lineage.

Bold luminescent hands and markers ensure clear legibility in any light, while maintaining the refined elegance expected of a modern mechanical timepiece. Complementing its sophisticated design, the watch is water-resistant to 10 bar (100 meters), offering robust durability for everyday wear and a wide range of activities.

Building on the success of the Tsuyosa, the new Citizen Tsuyosa Shore models add enhanced versatility through a 10-bar water resistance and a 120-click unidirectional bezel to the mechanical collections. As so called "Go anywhere – do anything" these features allow for swimming and other water activities while retaining the collection’s signature, urban-casual style.

Measuring 40mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.5mm, the steel cases are available with two dial options: navy blue with a matching steel bracelet, and green with a yellow-gold-tone case and bracelet. The sunray-finished dials feature luminescent hands and markers, the typical magnified date window at 3 o’clock, and are protected by a sapphire crystal.
