Zenith Revives an Anime Legend with the Chronomaster Daisuke Jigen Edition
Since 2019, Zenith has been paying tribute to a Japanese anime icon: the watch worn by Daisuke Jigen, the cool shooter from Lupin the 3rd, in several episodes. Inspired by the A384 of 1969, this watch was originally a creation of the animators and never existed in reality. Interestingly, the fictional timepiece was once depicted with a black dial and later with a silver one. The Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition continues this unique story, bringing the anime design even closer to life.
Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen
ZenithThis fourth chapter of the homage to the legendary character impresses with its authenticity and attention to detail. The 37mm case, crafted from matte microblasted titanium and water-resistant to 50 meters, emphasizes the subtle dark-gray nuances of the lightweight, durable metal, giving the watch a bold, modern presence. The soft beige dial forms the perfect backdrop for deep black chronograph subdials and a surrounding tachymeter scale. The hands and applied indices are filled with beige Super-LumiNova, creating a warm, vintage-inspired aesthetic.
El Primero 400
ZenithInside beats the El Primero 400 caliber, a direct descendant of the legendary movement from 1969. Entirely developed and manufactured in-house, it runs at 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of 50 hours. Through the sapphire caseback, engraved with Jigen’s unmistakable silhouette, collectors can admire the sophistication of this high-beat chronograph classic and its more than 300 components.
The Chronomaster Revival Daisuke Jigen Edition is paired with the iconic "Ladder" bracelet, originally designed in 1969 by the renowned Gay Frères company exclusively for Zenith. Already featured on early El Primero models such as the A384, A385, and A386, the bracelet – with its alternating open central links – became a favorite. For this new edition, the design has been thoughtfully updated: crafted in matte titanium, it combines historical authenticity with modern ergonomics, perfectly complementing the watch’s distinctive character.
Pricing is marked at CHF10,400 or approximately $13,070 when converted to USD.
