Introducing the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Fragment Limited Edition

Rooted in TAG Heuer’s reimagined glassbox architecture and distilled through Hiroshi Fujiwara’s uncompromising visual code, the Carrera Chronograph x Fragment Limited Edition marks the latest chapter in a creative dialogue that began in 2018.

Since its introduction, TAG Heuer’s Glassbox Design has stood out for its sculptural sapphire crystal and the impressive three-dimensional depth it brings to the dial. In this new limited edition of 500 pieces, Hiroshi Fujiwara, musician and fashion designer known as the “godfather” of streetwear, pushes that concept further, using the domed sapphire architecture as a canvas for his own restrained but unmistakable design language.

Introduced in 1963, the Carrera has always been defined by purpose: a chronograph designed for drivers, built for legibility, and inspired by the legendary Carrera Panamericana race. In the Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition, the glassbox becomes the stage for a masterclass in restraint. Every surface, every contrast, every detail is intentional. The result is a Carrera that feels both deeply rooted in its heritage and unmistakably contemporary—a synthesis of TAG Heuer’s craftsmanship and Fujiwara’s signature design language.

The 39mm stainless-steel case—with alternating brushed and polished surfaces—serves as a clean frame for the glassbox crystal, which rises in a seamless curve from the middle case. This construction not only amplifies legibility but also creates a sense of openness and visual tension central to the collaboration.

The black opalin dial absorbs and diffuses light softly, while a white curved flange creates deliberate contrast and sharpens the watch’s architectural lines. All dial markings are rendered in silver, ensuring tonal harmony despite the stark monochrome palette. Fujiwara’s fragment lightning bolt appears recognizable within the dial graphics but is very discreet. Rhodium-plated chronograph hands, a light gray tachymeter scale on the flange and a date disc subtly personalized with the fragment logo at “1” and “11” further reinforce the refined charisma of the watch.

The limited edition is powered by the in-house TH20-00 caliber with an 80-hour power reserve. The  self-winding movement incorporates a column wheel, vertical clutch, and bidirectional automatic winding—a contemporary, high-performance chronograph construction designed for absolute precision. Yet the movement is also a central element of the watch’s visual narrative. Its shield-shaped oscillating weight, rendered with black graphic detailing, reinterprets the TAG Heuer emblem through Fujiwara’s distinctive design language. The fragment logo, printed directly onto the sapphire crystal of the case back, adds another subtle signature. Encircling the case back, the engraved Victory Wreath pays tribute to the golden era of Formula 1 and Jack Heuer’s custom of presenting gold watches to triumphant drivers—a symbolic gesture celebrating speed, success, and enduring legacy.

The Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition is attached to TAG Heuer’s revived seven-row “beads-of-rice” bracelet, reintroduced earlier this year, however with a new twist. Fujiwara applied black PVD to the central links, extending the dial’s black-and-white dialogue onto the wrist.
