Sponsored: A Closer Look at Blancpain’s Villeret “Golden Hour” Collection

Blancpain’s Villeret “Golden Hour” updates refine the collection’s core models with 16 new references in stainless steel or 18k red gold. Highlights include new opaline and golden brown dials, redesigned Roman numerals and hands, an enhanced moon phase, and an openworked gold rotor.

First introduced at the end of last year, Blancpain’s latest Villeret updates— collectively framed under the theme “Golden Hour”— represent a subtle but deliberate evolution of the brand’s most classically styled collection. Rather than altering the core identity of the Villeret line, Blancpain focuses on refinement: warmer dial tones, reworked details for improved depth and legibility, and movement-side enhancements that reinforce the line’s traditional formal aesthetic.

The update spans three familiar Villeret formats, offered across 16 new references in stainless steel or 18k red gold. These include a 40mm automatic three-hand model with date, a 40mm complete calendar with moon phase, and a 33.2mm moon phase calendar, the latter also available in diamond-set variations.

New Dial Tones and Sharper Details

The most immediate visual shift comes through the introduction of new dial shades, including a finely grained opaline dial and a sunburst golden brown option that gives the collection a distinct, warmer character. Blancpain also refines the applied Roman numeral hour markers, now executed in 18k gold with satin-finished surfaces and polished bevels for a more sculpted look.

The hands have been redesigned as well, now featuring luminescent inserts, marking an uncommon but practical touch in a traditionally formal dress-watch line. Blancpain also notes a larger date window at 3 o’clock on the time-and-date models for improved balance and readability.

Blancpain’s Signature Moon Phase, Reworked

Blancpain has long treated the moon phase as one of its defining signatures, and the updated Villeret moon phase models place added emphasis on the display. The aperture is enlarged for greater depth, while the moon disc is executed in ceramic and topped with an applied domed moon in satin-finished 18k gold. True to Blancpain tradition, the moon retains its distinctive facial depiction, giving the complication a more expressive presence on the wrist.

Movement Finishing and a New Openworked Rotor

Inside, and in familiar fashion for the watchmaker, Blancpain’s manufacture automatic movements continue to be finished to the highest haute horlogerie standards, with details such as Côtes de Genève decoration and beveled edges, speaking to the time required for each caliber. A notable update is the new openworked oscillating weight, crafted in red or yellow gold with polished bevels, offering a clearer view into the movement while reinforcing the emphasis on finishing.

Blancpain also extends a five-year warranty across the updated models, aligning the collection with the brand’s broader emphasis on durability and long-term ownership.

Case and Wearability Enhancements

The 40mm complete calendar with moon phase receives the most meaningful case refinement, with a slimmer bezel, redesigned lugs, and a larger crown intended to improve comfort and ergonomics while maintaining the collection's elegant profile. The 40mm calendar models notably feature Blancpain's patented under-lug correctors, allowing calendar adjustments with the simple press of the finger.

To further emphasize versatility, the collection introduces a quick-change strap system paired with new strap colors including brown, blue-grey, honey, and beige nubuck velvet.

Taken as a whole, Blancpain’s Villeret “Golden Hour” refresh is less about reinvention than it is about polish, bringing added warmth, depth, and practicality to one of the brand’s most enduring and classic watch families.
