The Summit 2+ is the first luxury smartwatch equipped with direct cellular connectivity via the Wear OS by Google app on Android smartphones, meaning the wearer can stay connected even when separated from his or her smartphone. Its built-in speaker allows direct access to services such as phone calls or the Google Assistant. The 43.5-mm steel case (more compact than the original Summit's 46-mm one) is offered with a number of different case finishes – traditional stainless steel, black DLC coated, rose-gold-colored and bronze-colored — and a variety of interchangeable strap options. Also highly customizable is the watch's "always-on" face, an AMOLED screen for which users can choose from a variety of indicators, backgrounds, hands and complications to personalize it. Inside the case is a Snapdragon 3100 processor, with an extended battery power of 440mAh, good enough for a full day while running Wear OS by Google. The wearer can extend the battery life by an additional three to five days by deactivating the smartwatch functionality while still having access to the correct time by a simple flick of the wrist.

The Summit 2+ is packed with useful tools for its intended audience of avid outdoorsmen and frequent travelers. The new Timeshifter app — used by pro athletes and astronauts, and incorporating the latest in sleep and circadian neuroscience — provides personalized advice to minimize jet lag based on the traveller’s sleep pattern, chronotype, and flight plan and displays it directly on the watch's face. Montblanc's own Travel Info app provides relevant local traveller information and its voice-activated translator sends direct translations from a multitude of languages directly to the watch’s display. The smartwatch's "outdoor toolbox" features an array of functions well-suited for rigorous activity in a variety of settings, including a speedometer, altimeter, barometer, compass and GPS tracker.

Also included is VO2max, a smart virtual fitness assistant that recommends personalized exercises and automatically adjusts to the user’s physical needs to provide the right pace and training intensity levels, along with an improved heart rate algorithm. Thanks to the integrated GPS navigation, precise fitness tracking is easy even when the wearer is away from the phone. The Summit 2+ is also helpful when you come off the hiking trail and return to the office. It uses Google Assistant to manage daily tasks, with all notifications – incoming calls, messages, social media updates, calendar events – directly synched to the watch from a smartphone or directly from the cellular network. You can even create quick responses with handwriting, keyboard, or voice dictation directly from the watch. The Montblanc Summit 2+ will be priced at $1,170 and available at Montblanc boutiques and via Montblanc's website this Spring.
