This exclusive timepiece marks 100 years since the birth of the Mercury-Atlas 7 astronaut, the man who wore the first Swiss wristwatch in space—a custom-built Navitimer designed specifically for his 1962 mission when he orbited the Earth three times on May 25.

When Scott Carpenter approached Breitling ahead of his mission, he had specific requests: a 24-hour dial to distinguish between night and day in space, a broader bezel for gloved hands, and a stretch-metal bracelet to wear over a space suit. Willy Breitling personally delivered on those specifications in just days—ushering in the now-iconic Navitimer Cosmonaute.

At the heart of the centenary edition beats the hand-wound Breitling Manufacture Caliber B02, a COSC-certified chronograph movement with approximately 70-hour power reserve. The B02 is brought to life through the sapphire crystal case back revealing fascinating details such as the column-wheel, decorated bridges engraved with “Carpenter,” “Aurora 7,” “3 orbits around the Earth,” and “Mercury 7.” The case back also displays three commemorative engravings: “First Swiss wristwatch in space,” “One of 50,” and “Scott Carpenter Centenary 1925–2025.”

Housed in a 41mm platinum case measuring 13mm thick, the Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Scott Carpenter Centenary Edition includes a bidirectional platinum bezel with a circular slide rule allowing for calculations and a cambered sapphire crystal. Its deep blue dial, white 24-hour display, white chronograph counters and the AOPA winged logo at 12 o’clock, is furnished with luminescent hands and a vibrant red chronograph seconds hand for optimal readability.

The Navitimer B02 Chronograph 41 Cosmonaute Scott Carpenter Centenary Edition is paired with a blue alligator leather strap and white-gold folding buckle.

Pricing is marked at $42,000.
