At Watches & Wonders 2024, Trilobe Raises the Bar with the Les Matinaux L'Heure Exquise

At Watches & Wonders this year, Trilobe is expanding its unique way of telling time with a complication— and a poetic one, at that. With the Les Matinaux L'Heure Exquise, a moon phase is added to the brand's signature moving rings that tell time. This is quite a technical feat, as the dial of a Trilobe is constantly in motion, and so is the moon phase. The trick was not only to keep it at the same angle as it turns but also to integrate it within the gears that power the time display.

This new model from Trilobe is part of its 'Les Matinaux' collection and is named 'L'Heuer Exquise,' which means, in English, the exquisite hour. Trilobe shows the moon's current phase in both the northern and southern hemispheres, with a very detailed lunar surface and a deep blue 'starry night.' These are pad-printed on a sapphire crystal disc that moves with the seconds, adding a dynamic element to the watch. The model is powered by the X-centric caliber that is produced by Le Cercle des Horlogers in La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is fitted with a tungsten micro-rotor and offers a 48-hour power reserve while running at 4Hz/28,800 VpH.

Trilobe offers the Les Matinaux L'Heure Exquise in six different versions, each limited to 100 pieces. For those who prefer an integrated look, the blue version is perfect, as the dial has the same hue as the starry night of the moon phase complication. Those who prefer a bit of contrast are better off with the Dune edition. This one has a sand-colored dial that comes close to being salmon, where the moon phase complication stands out more. For those who want a personal touch, Trilobe also offers the Secret version, for which they put the night sky on the dial of a moment in time that you pick. This even lights up at night, creating an extra special effect.
