Two New GaGa Laboratorio Labormatics: Enjoying 'Champagne' Near The 'Azzurro' Ocean

GaGa Laboratorio made a significant impact in 2024 with the launch of the first two versions of the Labormatic, the 'Cinquanta' and the 'Bauhaus.' They were the brainchild of the creative genius Mo Coppoletta and offered a new perspective on how to experience the passing of time. With their elaborate case design and unique dials, they were a welcome addition to the world of watches. Now, two new models join the line-up, the 'Champagne' and 'Azzurro.'

The two new models are not a departure from the existing Labormatic models, but rather a natural extension deeply rooted in Italian culture, which plays a significant role in the design of the Labormatic. In that light, you might ask yourself if 'Prosecco' wouldn't have been a more appropriate name, as 'Champagne' is distinctly French. Apart from that is the Labormatic Champagne more than just a color. As we have already seen with the previous Labormatic models, does GaGa Laboratorio go the extra mile and doesn't just change the color of the dial? Instead, they examine all the aspects of the watch and recreate it in a way that makes it more of a theme than just another color.

For the Champagne version, the sides of the seven-part case have been given a brushed gold finish, so they blend in with the elaborate dial's look. The same applies to the crown, where the metal cabochon has undergone a similar treatment. It is this perfectly setting the stage for the dial. As with the previous Labormatic models, it contains various elements, offering a lot of depth and giving Mo Coppoletta the perfect canvas to do what he does best: to play with textures, finishes, and color.

The Labormatic Champagne truly does justice to its name, as all combined, it looks as luxurious and refreshing as its namesake beverage. The window showing the wandering hours is clearly visible, and so is the sculpted minute hand in black. A sense of motion is given by the central emblem, which serves as the seconds hand.

The Labormatic Azzurro isn't all that different, or is it? Here, the case is kept in a monochrome color scheme, differentiating the various parts in terms of finish. The dial is made much more sporty, as the Champagne features elegant five-minute markers, whereas the Azzurro is more sporty, with bold Arabic numerals in a beautiful tone of red. This gives the feeling of driving down the Amalfi coast in a 1960s Alfa Romeo convertible. It is Italian style in optima forma.

The red is matched by the wandering hours display at twelve o'clock. Another nice touch with the Azzurro is also the light blue strap that compliments the design of the watch. This is the same for the Champagne, in terms of texture, as GaGa Laboratorio resisted the temptation of going for an elaborate alligator skin. Instead, the Saffiano leather gives the watches an understated and effortless look of luxury.

What hasn't changed for either model is that they are powered by caliber LJP-G100. This movement is made by the renowned movement manufacture La Joux-Perret, and offers automatic winding and a generous power reserve of 68 hours. The oscillating weight is decorated in true GaGa Laboratorio style, where we can easily recognize the distinct style of Mo Coppoletta. It makes also these two net Labormatic models a true treat, although choosing among them, might becoming more and more a challenge.

Both models are priced at CHF 3,900 (VAT excluded).
