Making its first showcase at this year’s Watches and Wonders, the L.U.C XPS Forest Green from Chopard takes inspiration from the Bauhaus and Art Déco design schools. It sports a dark-green dial with a sector-style layout and a slim 40mm case made of eco-friendly Lucent Steel— the Swiss brand's exclusive alloy which works to highlight the brand’s ongoing commitment to responsible luxury. As is typical for the L.U.C timepieces, it is powered by a manufacture caliber whose precision is testified by a C.O.S.C.-chronometer certificate, demonstrating Chopard’s technical prowess and commitment to precision.

Sector-type dials were quite popular for a few decades in the first half of the last century, with the first examples appearing in the late 1920s. While there is no hard and fast definition, a sector dial should have two concentric rings, one for the minutes and one for the hours. The hour and minute markers should be radial lines running between the inner and outer edges of the rings - creating the "sectors".

Chopard enhances this vintage instrument-style sophistication with a satin-brushed dark green hue, against which the contrasting off-white markers stand out. Rhodium-plated Dauphine-type hour and minute hands and a small seconds sub dial complete the classy look.

Thanks to a svelte height of 7.2mm, the 40mm Lucent steel case, distinguished by alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces and attached to a brown calfskin leather strap, the L.U.C XPS Forest Green ticks all the boxes for a picture-book dress watch.

Ticking inside the watch is the ultra-thin self-winding caliber L.U.C 96.12-L. With a height of just 3.3mm, it features Chopard Twin technology and winds via a micro-rotor made from engraved ethical 22-carat gold. Visible through the sapphire case back are the meticulous finishings, like the bridges adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif. The chronometer-certified caliber beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph and offers a power reserve of 65 hours.

Pricing for the new Chopard L.U.C XPS Forest Green is marked at $11,800.
