Jaeger-LeCoultre Introduces Master Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Enamel
Limited edition of 50 pieces
In 2025, Jaeger-LeCoultre expands its emblematic Master Ultra Thin line with the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel, a creation that combines the collection’s understated elegance with the maison’s highest expressions of watchmaking artistry. The anthracite-gray dial sets a striking stage for the tourbillon and pointer-date display, while the sunray guilloché catches the light, sending shifting reflections across its surface with every turn of the wrist. The hand-guilloché pattern is a work of immense precision and skill: each of the 180 ‘sun rays’ required six passages of the hand-operated rose engine lathe, making 1,080 lines altogether. Guided only by the eye and hand, the master guillocheur ensures that every line is absolutely straight, evenly spaced and perfectly aligned, radiating out from the center to the edges of the dial. In addition, the date sub-dial is hand-guilloché in a circular pattern (known in French as azurage) to create a subtle texture that contrasts with the sunray.

Jaeger-LeCoultreWhen the guilloché work has been completed, the dial is handed over to the master enameller, who begins the delicate task of applying the enamel. It requires five layers to achieve the desired intensity and depth of colour, with each layer followed by firing at 800ºC and carefully managed cooling.

Jaeger-LeCoultreAt the heart of the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel beats the latest generation of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Calibre 978, first introduced in 2009 and awarded an international chronometry prize in the year of its debut. Since then, it has become the maison’s benchmark tourbillon caliber, comprehensively re-engineered in 2019 to incorporate the benefits of modern technology. The delicate mechanism comprises 77 components, among them a titanium cage, yet the tourbillon itself weighs less than half a gram. Its flat, two-level hairspring, shaped with a precise curve at the attachment points, promotes perfectly regular oscillations and outstanding chronometric performance. A pink gold bridge crowns the mechanism, adorned with refined hand-applied haute horlogerie finishes such as bevelling, straight graining and drawn flanks.
