To mark the 35th anniversary of its first radio-controlled wristwatch and the 20th anniversary of the iconic Mega 1000, Junghans is celebrating with a revival of this digital classic. Seven limited-edition models— crafted in stainless steel, titanium, and gold or black PVD-coated stainless steel— highlight the brand’s continued dedication to precision, design, and heritage.

Each version of the Mega 1000 is equipped with the high-performance J604.64 multi-frequency radio-controlled movement, developed in the German brand's home region of the Black Forest. This caliber syncs with atomic time signals from around the globe, ensuring pinpoint accuracy. Primary synchronization is handled via the DCF-77 transmitter near Frankfurt, which relays the official time from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig. The Mega 1000 also receives signals from WWVB in the U.S. and Japan’s JJY40 and JJY60 transmitters. Outside these signal zones, it functions as a highly accurate quartz watch.

The Mega 1000 is a tribute to Junghans' pioneering spirit: in 1971, the company introduced the first quartz wristwatch made in Germany. Nearly two decades later, Junghans once again led the way with the release of the Mega 1—the world’s first digital radio-controlled watch. The Mega 1000, launched in 2005, continued that legacy with cutting-edge radio technology and a bold, integrated case design that broke away from conventional round-watch trends.

The new limited editions feature brushed or coated cases measuring 38 mm x 36 mm, sapphire crystal, and a backplate made of stainless steel and carbon. Water-resistant to 50 meters, they come fitted with either metal or leather straps. The digital display—available in light gray or black—can be illuminated at the push of a button. Along with the time (hours, minutes, seconds), the display shows the day of the week, date, month, and year. Additional functions include stopwatch, alarm, timer, and multilingual support, all accessible via side buttons and an intuitive command bar.
