Rado gives the DiaStar Original Skeleton two autumnal colorways, pairing gold-toned open-worked movements with black or brown dials and matching rubber straps.

Rado introduces two new versions of the DiaStar Original Skeleton, bringing warm colors to the striking design first launched in 1962 and reimagined in 2022. Both models feature a gold-hued skeletonized automatic movement, a radially brushed Ceramos bezel and a rubber strap matched to the dial. While one combines yellow-gold tones with black, the other pairs rose-gold hues with brown.

A Skeletonized Movement with an 80-Hour Power Reserve

Both watches are powered by the automatic Rado Caliber R808, a three-hand movement with an 80-hour power reserve. Its yellow-gold-colored finish and horizontal brushing emphasize the open-worked architecture, revealing the bridges and moving components beneath a faceted, square sapphire crystal. A Nivachron hairspring provides resistance to magnetic fields.

The signature rotating Rado anchor adds a distinctive detail to the dial. Set against a black or brown background, it appears to float above the movement and features white Super-LumiNova, as do the hands and indexes.

Two Gold-Toned Colorways

The first model, Reference R12166159, combines a black dial and black rubber strap with a yellow-gold-colored Ceramos bezel. The second, Reference R12159309, introduces a rose-gold-colored Ceramos bezel to the collection, paired with a brown dial and matching rubber strap.

In both versions, the bezel has a radially brushed finish, while the stainless-steel case middle, crown and caseback feature matching PVD coatings. Rado’s Ceramos combines ceramic with a metallic component to create a lightweight, hard-wearing material with a metallic appearance. Here, the contrasting gold tones complement the open-worked movement and highlight the bold shape of the case.

The signature faceted sapphire crystal has an internal antireflective coating, while the exhibition caseback showcases the movement from the rear. The movement is fully coated in a yellow-gold color and features horizontal brushing. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters.
