The Savoir-faire of Elegance: Cartier Launches Three New Santos-Dumont Timepieces

The Santos de Cartier is truly a symbol of timelessness. It was created by Mr. Louis Cartier himself in 1904 as one of the first wristwatches and a pioneering pilot's watch for his adventurous friend Alberto Santos-Dumont. 120 years later, the design still embodies modernity, as is demonstrated by the spring-off line aptly christened Santos-Dumont, which Cartier launched in 2018. This elegant collection is now being expanded by three strikingly elegant and artful hour-and-minute timepieces in three color variations: Bordeaux/Platinum (150 pieces), Beige/Gold (250 pieces) and Black/Steel (unlimited).

Their dials are coated with a thin and translucent layer of lacquer that enhances the colors’ radiance, texture, and depth and lends expression to the geometric pattern with Roman dials and railroad minute track. Their inner workings don’t fail to impress, too. The svelte manual-winding 430 MC caliber sets the tone within the cases, which measure a mere 7.3 mm in height, making it a picture-perfect dress watch.

Pricing across the new Cartier Santos-Dumont range varies, starting at approximately $6,870 for the stainless steel and leather strap when converted to USD, $16,120 for the yellow gold and leather strap edition, and $21,530 for the $21,530 piece.
