Futuristic Aesthetics, Pioneering Technology

With the new Ventura Quartz S, Hamilton  brings fresh tropical color to one of the most unconventional watch designs of the 20th century.

Round, square, rectangular, and occasionally tonneau-shaped: in the 1950s, watch design largely followed the established rules of geometry. Hamilton broke with convention in 1957 when it introduced the Ventura, the world’s first electronic wristwatch. Its unusual case, with elongated, playful lugs and a distinctive asymmetrical silhouette reminiscent of a rounded triangle, challenged traditional ideas of what a watch could look like. American industrial designer Richard Arbib created the avant-garde design, drawing inspiration from the exuberant shapes of 1950s automobiles, including sweeping tail fins and gleaming chrome bumpers.

With its rebellious personality and unmistakable appearance, the Ventura quickly became a symbol of modernity.

It was only natural that the watch caught the attention of Elvis Presley. The King of Rock ’n’ Roll revolutionized popular culture with his energetic performances, blending blues, country, and gospel into a new musical identity and inspiring a generation that wanted to break free from conventional expectations.

The Ventura perfectly reflected this spirit of individuality. Presley wore the watch not only in the 1961 movie Blue Hawaii, but also onstage and in his private life. His connection with the model transformed the Ventura into a cultural icon far beyond the world of watchmaking — and its association with Elvis remains inseparable today.

Two Fresh Color Interpretations

Nearly seven decades later, Hamilton revisits this heritage with the Ventura Quartz S. The bold design receives a contemporary update through two tropical colorways inspired by the landscapes and atmosphere of Hawaii. One version features a soft turquoise dial, while the second showcases a delicate pink tone. Both models feature a seconds hand with a yellow tip inspired by the vibrant hibiscus flower, adding a playful summer accent. The dial retains the Ventura’s characteristic design elements, including pearl-shaped hour markers, faceted hands, and the iconic lightning-bolt motif that references the model’s pioneering electronic heritage.

Lightweight Comfort for Summer Days

Measuring 24mm by 36mm and just 7.8mm thick, the Hamilton Ventura Quartz S offers a comfortable presence on the wrist, particularly suited to warm summer days.

The stainless-steel case preserves the model’s unmistakable silhouette, while the flexible stainless-steel bracelet follows the wrist naturally. Its clasp-free design ensures a smooth and even fit, while the integrated EasyClick system allows the bracelet to be exchanged without tools, adding further versatility to the watch’s everyday appeal.

Inside the watch, a quartz movement provides dependable precision. Based on the ETA F05.115, the caliber offers a battery life of up to 94 months and features HeavyDrive technology, which regulates and protects the hands against shocks.

The new Hamilton Ventura Quartz S models are priced at $1,075.
