The Grand Seiko Sport Collection offers a wide selection of sports watches that champion legibility and durability, from dive watches to chronographs to watches with a GMT capability. The entire collection bears certain similarities in terms of design, but each maintains its own unique flare. Two of the latest additions to the collection do much of the same, being two particularly sporty travel models in the black dial SBGN027 and blue SBGN029.

The new timepieces follow-up on previous quartz-powered iterations of the brand's esteemed sports travel design, notably including the Grand Seiko 9F86 Quartz GMT which debuted in 2018, among others.

On the wrist, both of the new models feature a 39mm steel case with a classic hairline finishing using Grand Seiko's sharp Zaratsu-polishing technique. The case is simple in size but sturdy in wear, featuirng a 24-hour fixed bezel with engraved markings, a screw-down crown at the four o’clock position, and substantial 19mm, tapering lugs. The base models of each reference is equipped with a steel bracelet that is flush with the case material.

Underneath the sapphire glass, the alternating dials of the two models are on display. With the SBGN027, you find a black sunray dial with subtle white-gray highlights in the indices and hands, while in the SBGN029 a blue sunray look is at work, with a red accented GMT hand and GMT lettering. Outside of color and accenting, the configuration of both is the same, with both dials utilizing an outer 24-hour ring divided between night and day, a 4 o'clock date window, and crisp, applied hour indices with matching hands, each accented with Lumibrite for their lume material.

Inside the watches, the Grand Seiko Caliber 9F86 drives their operation. The high precision mechanism is accurate to +/- 10 seconds per year, and maintains a three-year battery life.
