In 2022, Rado breathed new life into its legendary 1960s Captain Cook Over-Pole with the introduction of the R862 Worldtimer, complete with a manual-winding movement capable of 80 hours of power reserve, GMT functionality, and a date-indication. Now this classic makes another striking come back in a limited edition, with only 1,962 pieces being produced.

The 2025 Captain Cook Over-Pole stands out with its 39 mm case and thin profile, measuring just 10.9 mm in height. This is made possible by the manual-wound R862 movement, which naturally forgoes with an oscillating mass, allowing the case to remain exceptionally slim. Based on a ETA C07.711, the movement sports a Nivachron antimagnetic hairspring. It features a high finishing standard, with the beautiful Geneva Waves on the bridge, annealed blue screws, and gold-colored markings coming to life through the sapphire case back.

The design of the watch face is equally gorgeous. The bidirectional rotatable bezel, made from black high-tech ceramic, has the 24 metropolises laser-engraved and lacquered, enabling easy time zone adjustments with a simple turn.

Inside this ring, the signature Captain Cook box-shaped sapphire signature sapphire crystal protects the silver sunray dial with yellow-gold colored hands, curved hour markers and 24-hour scale on the flange. The hands and hour markers are treated with vintage-white Superluminova, ensuring excellent legibility even in low light.

The Captain Cook Over-Pole comes with a polished and brushed yellow gold-colored PVD-coated bracelet in rice-grain style and a vintage-style brown leather strap. A practical leather pouch is included to store the watch and spare bracelet, along with an official certificate of authenticity for the limited edition.
