Glashütte Original Adds to Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase

Glashütte Original introduces two new Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase variants as a tribute to 180-year history of the eponymous watchmaking town in Germany. Their dials, one in "frosted silver" and one in "frosted copper," are inspired by the rich mineral deposits of the Ore Mountains, while their fine-grained surface texture makes one feel the cold deep within the rock. As is typical for the Senator line, they embrace a classic design, elegantly blending traditional elements with modern refinement.

The applied Roman numerals are crafted from solid gold and coated in blue, perfectly complementing the blued Poire hands with polished surfaces and the seconds hand, which features a distinctive double-G symbol. The Panorama Date at 4 o'clock, a signature feature of the brand since 1997, reflects a more recent tradition, while the moon-phase indication, with its graceful opening, gives a poetic expression to this classic complication.

The 40mm round stainless steel case, with a water resistance of 5 bar, provides an elegant frame thanks to its narrow bezel and a combination of satin and polished surfaces. It also plays a crucial role in the watch's inner design. Thanks to an innovative bayonet mounting system, the movement is securely mounted inside the case with a twist, similar to the attachment of a camera lens. This design not only enhances shock resistance but also makes future servicing easier.

Durability is also a key feature of the movement within the watch, which, alongside beauty, precision, and impressive power reserve, was a central focus during the development of the automatic Caliber 36. The extra-large mainspring was specifically designed to provide a power reserve of at least 100 hours. Additionally, the silicon balance spring offers resistance to magnetic fields, corrosion, and temperature fluctuations. The performance of every model in the Senator Excellence collection is rigorously tested over a 24-day procedure.

Glashütte Original offers these two models with a wide selection of leather, synthetic, and metal straps. They will be available in stores from March 2025, with the bracelet version priced at $12,900, while other strap variants start at $11,900.
