An autumnal take on a classic
With the fall season approaching, Oris introduces the latest collaboration with Swiss leather specialist Cervo Volante, giving the Big Crown Pointer Date an autumnal update in rich burgundy tones. The 40mm stainless-steel watch combines one of the oldest continuously produced pilot’s watch designs with a Cervo Volante deer-leather strap in brown. Its balanced dial is defined by clearly proportioned Arabic numerals, cathedral-style hands and the signature pointer date.

The Big Crown Pointer Date has been a constant in the Oris collection since 1938, making it one of the oldest pilot’s watch designs still in production. Its defining elements remain the fluted bezel, oversized crown and central date hand. For the new edition, Oris uses a 40mm case measuring 12.20mm in thickness and 48.20mm from lug to lug. What worked well almost a century ago still feels right today. The instrument-like dial has a striking sense of harmony, with its carefully proportioned Arabic numerals and clean layout. Modern touches bring it up to date, including Super-LumiNova on the numerals, indices and hands, while a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial. The rich burgundy color further highlights the historic beauty of the design, giving the classic form a distinctly autumnal character. It is paired with a brown Cervo Volante strap made from sustainable deer leather, equipped with a quick-change system. The leather is sourced from deer in the Swiss mountains and processed in one of Switzerland’s remaining vegetable tanneries. Natural imperfections are retained as part of the material’s character.

Powering the Oris x Cervo Volante Big Crown Pointer Date Burgundy is the brand's Caliber 754, an automatic Sellita-based movement. It operates at 4 Hz and provides 41 hours of power reserve. The movement drives central hours, minutes and seconds as well as the pointer-date display. The date changes instantaneously and can be corrected separately; a fine timing device and stop-seconds function are also included. The watch is available from September 2026 for $2,600. It comes with a travel pouch made from the same Cervo Volante leather.
