Drum roll please! Omega kicks off 2025 with two new Speedmasters that are packed with new features and fascinating lunar details: For one, they are driven by an updated hand-wound movement that includes a double moon-phase, a first for Omega. The most visible features are the meteorite dials that add a striking twist to the beloved Speedmaster DNA. Last but not least, the steel case has a reduced height and a Nixon bracelet.

The dial

As dubbed in the name, the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite models are equipped with meteorite dials that are luminscent thanks to Superluminova coating on the hands and markers. The first one sports a galvanic gray-coated meteorite face on a blue PVD-coated base, with a blue ceramic bezel with tachymeter scale. The hands and hour markers are white gold with a blue PVD coating. The second edition comes with a black PVD-coated meteorite dial on a black PVD-coated base, with a black ceramic bezel and is also furnished white gold hands and hour markers.

The watches are unmistakable Speedmasters, with 12-hour and 60-minute chronograph counters in a sector-style subdial at 3 o’clock, a small second with a pointer date at 9 o’clock and the moon indication at 6 o’clock. The slightly recessed and grooved subdials stand out beautifully from the scratched meteorite background.

The double moonphase

The real star, however, is the new moonphase prominently placed at 6 o’clock. Featuring two cabochon moons, which have been crafted from genuine pieces of lunar meteorites, they represent the northern and southern hemispheres, with the stars in the background positioned exactly as they were on the night that Apollo 11 reached the Moon in 1969, as seen from Biel, the Swiss town which is Omega's home.

The case

The asymmetrical stainless steel case measures 43mm in diameter and has a reduced thickness of 13.6mm. Water-resistant to 50 meters and equipped with a sapphire case back, it is finished with polished accents and brushed surfaces. The same rings true for the “Nixon” bracelet that is equipped with Omega's easy-adjustment system.

The movement

Inside these two new editions ticks Omega's new caliber 9914 with a power reserve of 60 hours. The hand-wound movement has a frequency of 28,800 vph and bears the Master Chronometer Certificate. This means it is accurate to 0/+5 seconds per day and antimagnetic to 15,000 gauss. The sapphire case back reveals the beautiful decorations with Geneva Waves in Arabesque, rhodium-plated bridges, and red-varnished engravings.

Pricing is marked at $17,100 for the bracelet version.
