Smartwatches aren't a novelty anymore, and they arguably have outlived the narrow window of trendiness that was forecasted by some to be their expiration date. With notable watch brands like Montblanc becoming a key player in the luxury smartwatch category and increased innovation in wristwatch technology, it appears the smartwatch truly is here to stay. Now, nearly five years after the debut of its first smartwatch, Montblanc celebrates the release of its newest addition to the catalog in the Summit 3, the summer-launched timepiece joining its namesake Summit collection.

The Summit 3 is leveling up on personalization compared to the previous edition, notably opting for an AMOLED screen display that varies based on the users’ preference. The options available pay homage to the analog history of the Montblanc brand, ranging from depictions of dials from the Geosphere, Bohème, and 1858 collections. The interchangeable capability of the screen offers a more versatile appearance, working to ensure style isn't compromised for smartwatch functionality, or the opposite.

Wearing slightly smaller than the Summit 1 and 2 models, the watch measures just under 42 mm in diameter. The case is made of titanium and offers an engraved steel caseback with a heart rate sensor and charging pins. The shape of the case with its tapered lugs and two pushers flanking the crown is reminiscent of the traditional Montblanc mechanical chronograph design.

The Summit 3 operates with the new Wear OS by Google 3.0 system. The system offers all of the features expected from a smartwatch, including everyday functions like GPS and contactless payment, to health-inspired functions like a step counter, heart rate monitor, and an entire suite of health and fitness tracking capabilities. The system offers 8 GB of storage and has an improved battery life from the previous Summit models.
