A New Shade for a Flagship: Meet the Vacheron Constantin Overseas Tourbillon in Titanium

Vacheron Constantin expands its Overseas collection with a striking new interpretation of the Overseas Tourbillon, pairing a lightweight titanium case with a deep red dial for the first time.

Beyond mastering complex complications and fine movement decoration, Vacheron Constantin has repeatedly demonstrated a keen eye for color. The Overseas Tourbillon this year returns with a dark red dial, a choice that reinforces the maison’s sensitivity to nuance and visual balance. Previously reserved for the ultra-thin perpetual calendar in white gold, the deep red hue now makes its debut in combination with a titanium case. The skin-friendly metal offers high strength, corrosion resistance, and notably low weight. As with the perpetual calendar, the visual impact of the dark red tone is subtly enhanced by the restrained use of light blue numerals on the minute track. A sunburst finish across the dial is complemented by a softly velvet-like outer ring. Applied hour markers, along with the hour and minute hands crafted from white gold, are filled with blue Super-LumiNova to ensure excellent legibility in all lighting conditions. The tourbillon cage echoes the signature Maltese cross, Vacheron Constantin’s historic emblem.

The titanium case measures 42.5 mm in diameter and 10.39mm in height, lending the watch a remarkably slender profile. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters. The case and integrated titanium bracelet feature vertical satin brushing, contrasted by polished edges on the bracelet links. The bezel, also inspired by the Maltese cross, combines sandblasted and circularly satin-finished surfaces for a dynamic interplay of textures.

Powering the watch is the manufacture Caliber 2160, an ultra-thin automatic movement. A peripheral rotor made of guilloché-finished 22-carat gold supplies energy while allowing an unobstructed view of the caliber through the sapphire case back. It offers a power reserve of approximately 80 hours and operates at a frequency of 2.5 Hz (18,000 vibrations per hour). Comprising 188 components, the caliber is certified with the Poinçon de Genève or Geneva Seal, one of the oldest and most prestigious marks of craftsmanship and origin in high-end watchmaking that was introduced in 1886 to protect and promote the excellence of watches made in the Canton of Geneva. Its meticulous finishes include circular graining on the mainplate, Geneva stripes on the bridges, hand-beveled edges and polished screws.
