Urban Jürgensen has announced that Timothée Chalamet will join the company as an official partner, taking a minority equity stake while also stepping into a creative advisor role. The move marks the first time Chalamet has taken on a formal partnership position, and notably, this is not being framed as a typical ambassador arrangement. According to the brand, the relationship began more naturally, with Chalamet first approaching Urban Jürgensen as a collector with a growing interest in independent watchmaking.

“When we first met, we were struck by Timothée’s curiosity and interest in independent watchmaking,” said CEO Alex Rosenfield. “He is a deeply passionate creative person who cares about craft and excellence… It was this way of thinking that first resonated with Timothée and that will define the partnership.”

Founded in 1773 in Copenhagen, Urban Jürgensen remains one of the oldest names in watchmaking, with historical ties to the Danish Royal Court and Navy. Since returning to family ownership in 2025 under the Rosenfield family, the brand has focused on a more deliberate, small-scale approach centered on traditional techniques and independent production in haute horlogerie. That direction has included collaboration with Kari Voutilainen, who designed the first watches of the current era, as well as a series of recent recognitions at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

For Chalamet, the appeal appears to lie in that focus. “I started to see it as a sibling to filmmaking — a precise expression, just on a different scale,” he said. “What drew me in was how clearly the focus was on the watches themselves — on craft, on process, on getting it right… It felt like something different than the typical arrangement — more of a creative collaboration than a traditional endorsement.”

With the partnership, Urban Jürgensen adds a high-profile cultural figure to its next chapter, but the emphasis, at least for now, remains on the same idea that drew him in to begin with: the work itself.
