Showcasing Mechanical Innovation, Parmigiani Fleurier Introduces the Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante

Parmigiani Fleurier adds a new GMT watch with a clever mechanism to its purist Tonda PF collection, first introduced last year. Although the name of the debutante, Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante, hints at a complex chronograph model, the debutante is a travel timepiece.

The new complication features two superimposed hour hands: one in rhodium-plated gold and the other in rose gold. Pressing the pusher at 8 o'clock causes the upper rhodium-plated gold hand dedicated to local time to jump one hour forward, thereby revealing the rose gold hand which displays time in the wearer’s place of residence, known as “home time”.

Once the second time zone information is no longer required, pressing the crown-integrated rose gold pushbutton repositions the rhodium-plated hand on top of the rose gold hand in the same manner as a split-seconds chronograph hand, hence the name.

This sophisticated mechanism is provided by the self-winding manufacture caliber PF051, which boasts a micro rotor in rose gold and a finishing standard in accordance with contemporary haute horlogerie standards. Particularly eye-catching is the refined Grain d'Orge pattern on the oscillating masse that echoes the decor of the Milano blue dial. The Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante is clad into a 40mm stainless steel case boasting a knurled platinum bezel and retails for $28,700.
