Patek Philippe Celebrates 50 Years of the Nautilus with Limited Anniversary Editions

Patek Philippe marks half a century of the Nautilus with four limited models that distill the essence of one of watchmaking’s most enduring icons. They combine ultra-thin mechanics with refined materials and the unmistakable sporty elegance. Surprise: There is also a desk clock included.

Few watches have reshaped the codes of luxury as profoundly as the Nautilus. Introduced in 1976, its bold use of steel, porthole-inspired design, and integrated bracelet challenged convention and defined a new category of sporty elegance. Fifty years later, Patek Philippe revisits this legacy with restraint rather than reinvention. Presented at Watches and Wonders 2026, the anniversary collection comprises four limited-edition interpretations that emphasize the purity of the original design while showcasing the manufacture’s technical and aesthetic refinement.

At the core of three of these models lies the historic ultra-thin self-winding caliber 240— introduced in 1977 and instrumental in shaping the Nautilus’ signature slim profile. Two 41 mm white-gold references, 5810/1G-001 and 5810G-001, both measuring just 6.85mm in height, and a 38mm platinum model, ref. 5610/1P-001 with a height of 6.9mm, focus on hours and minutes only. This restrained approach underscores a minimalist philosophy that highlights the iconic case geometry, alternating polished and satin finishes, and the horizontally embossed blue dial. Each is issued in limited quantities and features a commemorative “50 1976–2026” engraving on the micro-rotor.

Across all three wristwatches, the dials feature the characteristic horizontal Nautilus relief pattern, enhanced by a blue PVD coating and a refined sunburst finish that plays dynamically with light. Applied baton hour markers and rounded baton hands in white gold ensure legibility, both treated with luminescent coating. While the reference 5810/1G-001 adheres to a purist aesthetic with classic applied indexes, the 5810G-001 introduces a more opulent note with baguette-cut diamond hour markers. The platinum reference 5610/1P-001 maintains the same visual language.

Perhaps the most unexpected tribute comes in the form of the Nautilus ref. 958G-001, a white-gold desk clock that translates the design codes of the original wristwatch into a new dimension. Measuring 50.65mm in diameter and 13.5mm in height, it retains the signature porthole-inspired silhouette while introducing a new functional context. Its blue dial, likewise decorated with horizontal embossing and a sunburst finish, is elevated by baguette-cut diamond-set hour markers, adding a distinctly precious character. The clock is powered by the caliber 31-505 8J PS IRM Cl J, an eight-day manually wound movement with instantaneous calendar displays and a power reserve indicator. The reverse reveals a hinged cover adorned with a decorative panel beneath sapphire crystal.
