Louis Vuitton Takes Us on a Holorogical Journey

Louis Vuitton continues to sharpen its watchmaking focus with a significant expansion of the Escale collection at LVMH Watch Week 2026 taking place in Milan, Italy. Originally conceived as a refined expression of the brand's Art of Travel, the Escale now serves as a platform for complex, manufacture-built movements and artisanal dials. Developed at La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton in Meyrin, the new lineup comprises the Escale Worldtime, Escale Worldtime Flying Tourbillon, Escale Twin Zone in rose gold and in a diamond-set platinum version, and the Escale Minute Repeater. Each model interprets the theme of travel through a distinct horological lens, uniting functionality, rare craftsmanship, and design coherence.

Escale Worldtime

The Escale Worldtime returns as a central pillar of the collection, now executed in platinum and refined throughout. Its dial displays 24 time zones through hand-painted city flags arranged around a grained blue center that subtly references Louis Vuitton’s historic Monogram canvas. The work is meticulous: 35 colours are applied one by one using a fine-tipped brush. Between the applications, the dial is carefully dried in an oven. The flags themselves take inspiration from historical Louis Vuitton motifs, such as the diamond-stitched malletage trunk lining and the signature Damier canvas. The renowned Monogram Flowers pattern is also reproduced in miniature, alongside the distinctive ‘V’ of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, grandson of Louis Vuitton himself, to represent the city of Paris. In the age of ocean liners, such markings were more than decoration — they served as emblems of identity, hand-painted on trunks so travelers could recognize their belongings as they journeyed across continents and seas, a tradition that grew alongside the ascent of modern travel and its evolving modes of transportation. Reimagined on the dial, these personalized symbols recall an era when savoir-faire met individuality.

The Escale Worldtime is powered by the self-winding in-house caliber LFT VO12.01, which offers a power reserve of 62 hours and operates at a frequency of 4 Hz. The movement allows for the indication of world time across 24 time zones including day/night indication, as well as jumping hours and minutes, all adjustable via the crown. The 40mm platinum case measures 10.3mm in thickness and is water-resistant to 50 meters. It features sapphire crystals on both sides, with a saffron-colored sapphire set into the open case back as a discreet hallmark of platinum. The watch is worn on a blue calf leather strap.

Escale Worldtime Flying Tourbillon

The Escale Worldtime Flying Tourbillon elevates the travel complication into the realm of haute horlogerie spectacle. The familiar world-time display is enriched by grand feu enamel city flags and animated by a central flying tourbillon shaped as a Louis Vuitton Monogram flower that makes one revolution every sixty seconds. The filigree and open design enhances the play of light, drawing the eye to the center of the dial.

The Escale Worldtime Flying Tourbillon is driven by the in-house self-winding caliber LFT VO05.01, offering a 62-hour power reserve and operating at 4 Hz. The platinum case measures 40mm in diameter and 12.8mm in thickness and is water-resistant to 50 meters. Sapphire crystals are fitted front and back, with a saffron sapphire set into the case back. The watch is paired with a blue calf leather strap.

Escale Twin Zone

With the Escale Twin Zone, Louis Vuitton introduces a GMT watch with a clever mechanism for the display of the second time zone. Available in rose gold and a haute joaillerie platinum edition boasting an  aventurine dial, the watch features two complete sets of hands mounted on a single axis, a configuration that goes beyond conventional GMT watches. By integrating an independently adjustable minute hand, the Twin Zone enables precise, to-the-minute synchronization across all global time zones, including regions with non-standard offsets. Solid hands display local time, while skeletonized hands indicate home time.

When at home, the skeletonized hands can be hidden, giving the dial the clarity of a time-only watch, with only the discreet day/night indicator atop the engraved globe hinting at its dual-time capability. Upon arrival in a new destination, local time can be adjusted quickly and intuitively via the crown. The local hour hand moves in one-hour increments when traveling between standard time zones, while independent minute adjustment allows precise alignment when required. All functions are controlled through two crown positions, preserving the clean profile of the Escale case.

The watch is equipped with the self-winding in-house caliber LFT VO15.01, which delivers a power reserve of 68 hours and runs at 4 Hz. The movement enables the independent adjustment of hours and minutes for a second time zone and includes a day/night indicator linked to home time. The 40mm case measures 12.52mm in thickness, and is water-resistant to 50 meters. Sapphire crystals are fitted on both sides, and the watch is worn on a gray saffiano calf leather strap.

Escale Minute Repeater

The Escale Minute Repeater introduces sound as a new dimension within the collection and underscores both the exceptional craftsmanship and technical prowess of the brand. Combining a sophisticated minute repeater with jumping hours and retrograde minutes, this grand complication expresses traditional haute horlogerie through the contemporary Escale design. Here, too, Louis Vuitton brings details of its legendary trunks to life: the minute track on the dial echoes its signature brackets, complete with nail-like markers at its extremities. Traditional guillochage takes center stage, performed on a rose engine and adorned with a flammé  pattern that radiates from the center to catch and reflect the light. In total, it requires up to 60 hours of skillful savoir-faire to complete one. A subsequent coloring process is then performed to reach the dial’s distinctive gray hue. The large aperture for the jumping hours at 6 o'clock is bevelled and polished for a bassiné effect to illuminate the hour disc and enhance legibility. The retrograde minute indication is positioned on an arc between 8 and 4 o'clock. The 40mm case is crafted from rose gold and measures 12.3mm in thickness. The water-resistance of up to 50 meters is a rare feat for a minute repeater watch.

The watch is powered by the manually wound in-house caliber LFT SO13.01, which operates at a frequency of 3 Hz, comprises of 432 components and provides an 80-hour power reserve despite its technical complexity combining the minute-repeater, jumping-hour and retrograde-minute mechanisms. Every acoustic element has been tuned to perfection. The black-polished hammers and gongs are hand-shaped, cut, and adjusted to ensure optimal vibration and amplitude, meticulously tuned by ear to achieve a crystalline chime of remarkable clarity and volume. The sound of the minute repeater can be heard clearly thanks to a nearly silent centrifugal governor, secured by an octagonal bridge. 

Beyond the technical virtuosity of the LFT SO 13.01, the movement requires over four weeks to assemble and finish, meeting the highest standards of haute horlogerie. Details include traditional Côtes de Genève, hand-beveled and polished anglage throughout, and delicate snailing on the base plate, with each surface revealing the artisanal discipline that defines La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. 

Louis Vuitton Camionnette

With the Camionnette, Louis Vuitton once again blurs the boundary between horology, heritage, and imagination. Following the poetic flight of the Montgolfière Aéro table clock, Louis Vuitton turns to the road, reinterpreting one of the brand’s most evocative symbols: the early 20th-century delivery truck that once connected the Asnières workshops with clients and boutiques. Transformed into a mechanical object of time, the Camionnette captures a singular charm, part historical tribute, part playful reverie, and entirely unmistakable Louis Vuitton.

More than a miniature vehicle, the Camionnette is a narrative sculpture. Its instantly recognizable silhouette recalls an era when travel was an adventure and logistics were imbued with romance. Finished in saffron and sibylline blue aluminum, the truck is animated by a wealth of emblematic details, from Monogram flowers on the hood and wheel rims to LV-branded tires and the license plate marked “LV 1854,” anchoring the piece firmly in the House’s origins. Painted addresses on the sides evoke the historic routes between Asnières, Geneva, and the Champs-Élysées, celebrating the dialogue between trunk-making and watchmaking savoir-faire.

At the heart of the Camionnette lies its most enchanting surprise: time itself. Where a driver would once have sat, the balance wheel now beats visibly within the cabin, turning the vehicle into a living machine. Hours and minutes are displayed via rotating cylinders concealed beneath the hood, ingeniously replacing the truck’s engine with a mechanical one. Developed exclusively for Louis Vuitton by L’Epée 1839, the hand-wound movement brings an eight-day power reserve and a quiet theatricality, inviting the observer to circle the object and discover time from every angle.

The sense of wonder deepens with the miniature Monogram trunk hidden in the rear. Opening it reveals a winding key shaped like a trunk bracket, a poetic gesture that echoes the hand-cranks of early automobiles. This intimate interaction reinforces the Camionnette’s unique charm: it is not only an object to behold, but one to engage with, awakening a childlike fascination while honoring centuries of craft.

Limited to just 15 pieces in its precious iteration, the gem-set Camionnette elevates this concept further, weaving haute joaillerie into its mechanical narrative. Diamonds, sapphires, and hand-guilloché Damier motifs transform the truck into a rolling jewel, without diminishing its playful spirit. In both versions, the Camionnette stands as a defining piece within Louis Vuitton’s Objects of Time collection.
