IWC Gives the Ingenieur Automatic 35 a Fresh New Look

IWC Schaffhausen expands its Ingenieur Automatic 35 collection with a fresh "Pool" dial, adding a vibrant new option to the 35mm luxury sports watch. The latest model retains the collection's distinctive integrated-bracelet architecture, sophisticated dial pattern, and finely finished steel case.

IWC Schaffhausen marks the summer season with a new version of the Ingenieur Automatic 35 featuring a striking dial in a new shade fittingly called "Pool." The latest addition continues the evolution of the brand's Gérald Genta-inspired luxury sports watch collection, which was reintroduced in 2023 with the 40mm Ingenieur Automatic before expanding into a more compact 35mm format. With its fresh aquatic blue-green tone, the new model offers a colorful interpretation of the collection while preserving the design codes established by Genta's original Ingenieur SL from 1976.

A Familiar Design in a Fresh Color

Measuring only 9.4mm thick and equipped with the signature integrated bracelet, the new reference, IW324902, maintains the proportions and architectural lines that define today's Ingenieur collection. The signature bezel, secured by five functional screws and finely polished, frames the new Pool-colored dial, whose distinctive "Grid" pattern of fine lines and squares creates visual depth while catching the light from different angles. Rhodium-plated hands and applied indexes filled with Superluminova provide contrast against the vivid dial while ensuring legibility in low-light conditions. The bracelet, attached via the middle links, contributes to the watch's ergonomic fit, while alternating satin-brushed and polished surfaces enhance the overall refinement of the design.

Automatic Caliber on Display

Powering the Ingenieur Automatic 35 is IWC's automatic Caliber 47110, operating at 4 Hz and offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The manufacture movement can be viewed through the sapphire case back. As is de rigueur at the Schaffhausen-based manufacture, the 47110 is finely decorated with Geneva stripes, circular graining, and a gold-plated oscillating weight. The attention to finishing extends beyond the movement. Satin-finished and polished surfaces alternate across the case and bezel, while the bracelet combines polished center links with satin-finished H-links to create a dynamic play of light.

Growing the 35mm Collection

The new Pool-dial reference further expands the Ingenieur Automatic 35 lineup, which now comprises six models. It joins steel versions with silver-plated, black, and deep blue dials, as well as an 18-karat 5N gold model and a recently introduced version featuring a diamond-set gold bezel. Pricing is set at $11,200.
