Armin Strom Gives the Mirrored Force Resonance a Bold Red Dial

The independent Biel-based manufacture gives the Mirrored Force Resonance a vivid red hand-guilloché dial while retaining its patented twin-balance resonance system and hand-wound ARF21 caliber.

A New Look for a Signature Timepiece

Armin Strom is giving one of its most technically sophisticated watches a fresh new appearance. The Mirrored Force Resonance Red joins the collection with a vibrant red dial while retaining the resonance technology that has become one of the independent Biel-based manufacture’s defining innovations since its debut in 2016. The asymmetrical display divides the dial into two distinct areas. On the right, the off-center time display features a hand-guilloché pattern created on a traditional rose engine. The radiating motif enhances the vivid red color, which changes in intensity depending on the light. A black azurage minute track and faceted, polished hour markers provide contrast and emphasize the dial’s depth.

The Fascination of Resonance

The left side of the watch is dedicated to the movement’s mechanical prowess. Here, two independent balance wheels oscillate side by side, connected by Armin Strom’s patented resonance clutch. As the balances exchange energy, they gradually synchronize and begin oscillating in resonance, improving rate stability. Twin small-seconds displays allow the wearer to observe the synchronized operation, while a pusher at 2 o’clock resets both seconds hands simultaneously.

Two Oscillators, One Rhythm

At the heart of the Mirrored Force Resonance Red beats the hand-wound manufacture Caliber ARF21, a movement that exemplifies Armin Strom's uncompromising approach to independent watchmaking. Rather than relying on a single regulating system, it incorporates two complete movements within one caliber, each with its own mainspring barrel, gear train, escapement, and balance wheel. The two systems communicate exclusively through the brand's patented resonance clutch, allowing them to synchronize naturally while enhancing rate stability. The movement operates at a frequency of 3.5 Hz (25,200 vibrations per hour) and offers a power reserve of 48 hours. Framed by sapphire crystals on both the front and back, the ARF21 reveals an architecture that is as captivating as its mechanics. Every component is finished by hand, with polished bevels, perlage, circular graining, and black-polished screws underscoring the high horological craftsmanship for which Armin Strom is renowned.
