Independent Czech brand Robot unveils the Legends LE Josef Mašín, a limited edition that inaugurates the company’s new Legends collection. Dedicated to notable Czech personalities and stories, the series debuts with a watch honoring Josef Mašín, one of the most remarkable figures of Czech history, who born into a family for whom freedom was the highest value. The lives of his parents, as well as his own, were shaped first by Nazi occupation and later by communist totalitarian rule. In 1953, together with his brother Ctirad and other members of their resistance group, he set out on a journey to West Berlin. Their goal was not to seek a better life in exile, but to undergo military training and return to Czechoslovakia to continue resisting a regime they considered oppressive.

According to Robot, the Legends collection is intended to celebrate individuals whose legacy transcends their own era. With the LE Josef Mašín, the Czech manufacture combines historical remembrance with contemporary watchmaking. Limited to 32 pieces, the timepiece combines a manually wound movement with an eight-day power reserve and a design inspired by Mašín’s dramatic journey from communist Czechoslovakia to West Berlin.

A Watch Inspired by History

The Legends Le Josef Mašín is more than a commemorative edition. Robot has incorporated numerous references to Mašín’s life and legacy into the design. The dial features his original signature and draws inspiration from the Iron Curtain, the border that once divided East and West Europe. Elements of the design also reference the route taken by Mašín and his resistance group from Poděbrady to Berlin during their escape in 1953. A power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock displays the movement’s most impressive feature: a full eight days, or 192 hours, of autonomy between winding sessions. The caliber also provides hours, minutes, small seconds, and a date indication.

The watch is housed in a 44mm case crafted from brushed and polished 904L stainless steel and fitted with a ceramic bezel insert. A sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the silver-toned dial, which features luminescent relief hour markers and black polished hands. The case offers water resistance to 100 meters.

Eight Days of Autonomy

Powering the watch is the manually wound Robot F1S0 caliber, developed in cooperation with Swiss movement specialist La Joux-Perret. Robot emphasizes that each movement is customized specifically for its watches, reflecting the micro-brand’s focus on small-scale production and individual craftsmanship. Turning the watch over reveals a sapphire case back engraved with the phrase “ZATÍM DOBRÝ” (“So Far, So Good”), words closely associated with Josef Mašín’s story. The watch is delivered on a hand-stitched padded leather strap produced by Prague-based atelier Šíma and accompanied by a signed Josef Mašín card, a leather travel case, and additional presentation accessories.

Price and Availability

The Legends LE Josef Mašín is limited to 32 pieces worldwide and is priced at $6,730 including VAT, with final pricing adjusted according to the destination country.
