Glashütte Original, the esteemed German watchmaker, continues to redefine timeless classics through the Senator Excellence line— a collection that seamlessly marries traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. When it was first introduced in 2016, the Senator Excellence line represented a pinnacle of the brand’s work, with each timepiece representing the highest standards for stability, precision, running time and beauty in mind.

This fall, Glashütte Original presented four new variants to the series, including two Perpetual Calendar models and two Panorama Date Moon Phase watches. The latter of these, the Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase, reflects the pure essence of the watchmaker, highlighting a pure embodiment of the clear, elegant design which the Saxony-based brand has gained so much renown for.

On the wrist, the new watch features a familiar Senator Excellence silhouette, being executed in 40mm in either red gold or stainless steel. Understated in presentation, the case serves the perfect canvas for the fascinating dial and movement it protects, all while itself undergoing a meticulous finishing that brings together both satin-brushed and polished techniques to ensure refinement in style. Secured via a Louisiana alligator leather or fabric strap depending on the model, the watch with its 50m water resistance is nimbly able to wear both sportier and dressier throughout the day.

Under a sapphire crystal, the dial of the Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase exudes a pure elegance. The brand-signature panorama date and moon phase display find a perfect fit within the Senator Excellence aesthetic, with an outer railroad track seconds counter, Roman numerals for the indices, and a signature-handset complementing the complications. The red gold version features a galvanic silver dial with fine-grained embossing, complemented by applied indexes in solid gold; the steel variant features a similarly treated and textured surface, but in grey with touches of blue coating for its own balanced backdrop.

Powering the new watch is the Glashütte Original Calibre 36-24, a movement that should be equally appreciated for its exceptional technical and aesthetic properties. With a power reserve of at least 100 hours and an antimagnetic silicon balance spring, the automatic mechanism offers precision and reliability throughout its uyse. The newly designed skeletonized rotors, featuring the brand's signature Double-G logo and an oscillating mass in 21-carat gold, provide a captivating view of the intricately decorated movement. The hand-engraved balance cock exemplifies the meticulous craftsmanship synonymous with Glashütte Original.
