A year ago, Rado celebrated a significant anniversary. The brand's DiaStar, the first scratch-resistant wristwatch with a sapphire cover glass when it appeared in 1962, turned 60. To mark the occasion, the brand launched a duo of special designs. And like one those anniversary watches, which was designed by Swiss designer Alfredo Häberli, the new Rado DiaStar Original Skeleton is distinguished by its large, oval Ceramos bezel.

The case, 45 x 38 x 11.9 millimeters and pressure-resistant to ten bar, is forged from this hard and unbreakable composite of metal and high-tech ceramic, also know as Ceramos. Only the middle part of the case is made from stainless steel.

In keeping with its history, the sapphire crystal is facetted again, this time forming a cool square pattern. Another special feature of the latest DiaStar is the skeletonized automatic movement R808 (based on ETA C.07) with 80 hours of power reserve and an anti-magnetic Nivachron hairspring.

The movement is visible from both sides, as the case back is also fitted with sapphire crystal. The Superluminova coating of the gold-colored indices and and hands ensures that the time is easy to read even in the dark.

Pricing of the Rado DiaStar Original Skeleton is marked at $2,050. The watch is attached to a steel bracelet.
