IWC Expands “Colors of TOP GUN” Collection with New 41mm Mojave Desert Pilot’s Watch

Continuing its commitment to materials innovation, IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled the latest addition to its “Colors of TOP GUN” collection: the Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Mojave Desert (Ref. IW328106). This new reference brings the distinct sand-colored ceramic aesthetic, first introduced in 2019, to a compact and wearable 41-mm size, combining advanced engineering ceramics with the unmistakable visual identity of IWC’s history-steeped Pilot's Watch.

Crafted from IWC’s proprietary ceramic, the case draws direct inspiration from the flight suits worn by U.S. Navy pilots and the arid terrain surrounding China Lake, where the Navy operates an air base for its most skilled pilots. The desert-hued ceramic is a subdued earth tone, straddling beige and khaki, chosen for both its visual subtlety and durability. Engineering ceramic such as this is the result of an intricate multi-stage process: beginning with powdered zirconium oxide blended with select metallic oxides, then molded into a “green body” pre-form, and finally sintered at extremely high temperatures to achieve its characteristic hardness and color fidelity.

The muted tone-in-tone aesthetic extends seamlessly from the case to the brown dial, which features subdued numerals and a clean minute track, both coated with Superluminova to ensure legibility in low-light conditions. A beige rubber strap with a textile inlay and a titanium pin buckle complements the look, reinforcing the model’s understated yet distinctly utilitarian appeal. The lightweight and hypoallergenic titanium is also used for the engraved caseback, which bears the “TOP GUN” insignia.

At the heart of the Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Mojave Desert is the 32112 caliber. This robust self-winding movement is equipped with an automatic pawl winding system, which efficiently harnesses energy in both directions of the rotor’s motion to provide a generous 120-hour power reserve. Beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz), the movement reflects IWC’s focus on precision and reliability in performance-oriented timepieces.

With this release, IWC further solidifies its leadership in ceramic watchmaking—a field it has actively pioneered since the mid-1980s. The new model joins a growing family of “Mojave Desert” references, including the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN Edition (Ref.
