First launched in 1992, the Master Control was a demonstration of Jaeger-LeCoultre's technical prowess and commitment to high horological standards. It introduced the Maison's rigorous "1000 Hours Control" test that soon became a standard for all Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces. Ever since then a staple in the brand's portfolio, two new intriguing blue dial timepieces join the ranks of the collection, the Master Control Date and Master Control Calendar.

Both have a diameter of 40mm. Executed in stainless steel and endowed with blue sunray-finished dials, they display the line's sophisticated aesthetic details, such as the combination of applied Arabic numerals and faceted markers, faceted dauphine hour and minute hands and a notably slim bezel.

In the Master Control Calendar, which offers a complete calendar, the jumping date indication makes a welcome reappearance. A slender date hand extends outwards from the center of the dial, ending in a red-lacquered Jaeger-LeCoultre logograph that points towards the date on the outer periphery of the dial. For optimal reading of the dual-display moon phase and small seconds subdial, the date hand makes a 90° jump between the 15th and 16th day of each month. This ensures that the moon phase and small seconds subdial is never covered by the date hand, a small yet cool detail.

As is de rigueur for the Swiss tradition brand, both models use in-house movements. The self-winding calibers, 899 for the notably slim Master Control Date and 866 for the Master Control Calendar, amass 70 hours of power reserve. It goes without saying that these genuine movements offer a meticulous finishing quality. Each model is limited to 800 pieces and comes with a matching blue calf leather strap. A quick-change mechanism allows to switch them easily without the use of tools. Retail for the Master Control Date is $8,700, the Master Control Calendar has a price tag of $13,100.
