Seiko commemorates its 145th anniversary with two new limited-edition models in the Presage Classic Series, reflecting the brand’s long-standing pursuit of craftsmanship, material innovation and mechanical reliability. Tracing its origins back to 1881, when Kintaro Hattori founded “K. Hattori” in Tokyo’s Ginza district, Seiko has continually evolved under the guiding principle of being “Always one step ahead of the rest,” introducing milestones such as Japan’s first wristwatch in 1913, the Laurel, its first chronograph wristwatch in 1964, and the Astron Quartz, the world’s first quartz wristwatch in 1969. (Learn more about Seiko's milestones in history.)

The two anniversary editions illustrate the duality of the Presage Classic Series—balancing expressive Japanese craft traditions with contemporary design and every-day wearability.

The first of the two anniversary creations, the Presage Classic Series “Craftsmanship” Arita Porcelain Dial Limited Edition (HCC007), features a dial made of Arita porcelain finished in a deep cobalt blue glaze. This material, presented for the first time in the Presage line in such a saturated tone, required extensive development to balance structural integrity, surface relief and the visual depth of the glaze. Each dial is produced in collaboration with master craftsman Hiroyuki Hashiguchi and artisan Toshiaki Kawaguchi at a historic Arita workshop founded in 1830. The radiating dial pattern interacts with the translucent glaze to create shifting tonal gradients, revealing a refined interplay of light and texture unique to each piece.

The time-only watch is housed in a newly developed steel case measuring 39.6mm wide and 12.8mm thick. It features Seiko's super-hard coating and a dual-curved sapphire crystal. Behind the exhibition case back is Seiko’s Caliber 6R51 with a 72-hour power reserve. The model is limited to 1,500 pieces worldwide and retails for $1,700.

Alongside it, Seiko presents the Presage Classic Series Limited Edition (HCC004), an even more understated expression inspired by the texture and purity of silk. The dial draws its aesthetic from traditional Japanese silk craftsmanship, finished in a soft white tone inspired by shironeri, a refined, uncolored white associated with new beginnings. Subtle surface texture evokes the natural sheen of silk, while gently curved hands and applied indexes in vibrant "Seiko Blue" provide a restrained contrast against the dial’s calm surface. Housed in a compact 36mm stainless steel case with softly flowing contours and a delicately detailed bezel, the watch emphasizes classical proportions and everyday versatility.

Like its counterpart, it is powered by the Caliber 6R51 automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve and fitted with a leather strap sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries. The HCC004 is limited to 2,500 pieces and retails for $1,000. Both new Presage models will be available from June 2026.
